Recap by phillip woo
Punted late Lightning Steed was gifted an easy time on the lead and was too good after straightening two-lengths on top for the win. He had the fitness of a positive run underneath his belt last Wednesday. Jolly Honour couldn't close the gap on the winner after a nice run in the box-seat. It was another honest performance. Heavenly Thought came up one-paced over the final 100m after having to work early on to park one off in second from a tricky gate. Favourite Smiling City ran on well to nearly place after a wide without cover run worse than midfield. It was a huge effort on the back of a slow pace. Magnetism made only a mild bid following a midfield run on the fence. He's getting long in the tooth and is better suited nowadays over a longer trip. Tangmere made ground late without menacing from the rear of the field. The pace went against him. Noble Steed didn't click after railing behind midfield. He needs a faster tempo.
