Recap by phillip woo

Favourite V Chevaliers took control 100m out after getting a perfect trip on the back of a slow pace for a maiden win at his 10th start. The writing had been on the wall and he had been working nicely for his new trainer. Well-backed late Virtus Star came towards the rear and very wide out to grab second. It was a huge run on the back of slow early fractions. Wonderful Tiger nearly pinched the race after taking off to lead 600m out. He is coming off a fine campaign and might have the tools to get away with another race in this grade. Joy Master came up one-pace over the final 100m after rolling forward from midfield to sit second at the 550m. The rise in weight for an opening day win at Sha Tin was too much to overcome. Nitro Express ran on well one from the outside after a patient ride to pick up a pay cheque. Baby Storm was yielding ground 150m out after hunting forward to lead from a wide gate 1,200m out. He has shown improvement following a downgrade.

Racing Incident Report

Race Four: (32) - YAU TONG HANDICAP - Class 5 - 1650Meters

As the start was effected, THE FULL BLOOM became fractious and consequently began only fairly.

VIRTUS STAR shifted out at the start and bumped THE JOY OF GIVING.

DRAGON PRIDE began awkwardly and then was inconvenienced by TREASURE CHEST which shifted out.

Then from the outside barrier, DRAGON PRIDE was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

Approaching the 900 Metres, WONDERFUL TIGER commenced to prove difficult to settle and stumbled after striking the heels of JOY MASTER.

This resulted in WONDERFUL TIGER shifting out away from the heels of JOY MASTER and travelling wide and without cover.

WONDERFUL TIGER was then allowed to improve its position passing the 800 Metres into the lead approaching the 600 Metres.

Near the 550 Metres, POLYMER LUCK was steadied after being disappointed for running between TREASURE CHEST and NITRO EXPRESS which improved around POLYMER LUCK.

VIRTUS STAR, which was following POLYMER LUCK, was shifted out away from the heels of that horse in consequence, resulting in DRAGON PRIDE being taken wider.

A veterinary inspection of TREASURE CHEST immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

V CHEVALIERS and VIRTUS STAR were sent for sampling.
