Recap by phillip woo

Great Son kept on gamely to win well after hitting the front near the 150m following a box-seat run for a second win from his past three starts. He relished the wet ground. Kwai Chung Elite just nipped Moneymore for second in the drive to the wire after improving along the fence to midfield coming to the final bend. He has been knocking on the door. Moneymore stayed on well to make it very close for the Quinella spot after a wide and without cover run in midfield. He's nothing special but has been able to produce an odd good run over this particular trip. Multimax ran on steadily to finish a distant fourth after failing to muster early on under hard riding and having to settle fore of midfield one off the fence. Fox Cheunger got going when the race was all but over after straightening with only two behind him. He needed a stronger pace. Like the latter, Exponents ran on well but spotted them too much of a head start.

Racing Incident Report

Race One: (719) - WU KING HANDICAP - Class 5 - 1200Meters

KWAI CHUNG ELITE began only fairly.

MULTIMAX shifted out at the start and inconvenienced FOX CHEUNGER.

MOON PEAKS and SUPREME PATROL bumped at the start.

After this, from a wide barrier, SUPREME PATROL was steadied and shifted across behind runners.

MOON PEAKS was ridden along for some distance, however, was slow to muster speed and consequently travelled wide and without cover for the majority of the race.

Despite being hard ridden for a considerable distance in the early stages, MULTIMAX was slow to muster speed.

Passing the 900 Metres, FOX CHEUNGER raced close to the heels of MULTIMAX, shifted out and bumped SUPREME PLUS.

After this, FOX CHEUNGER continued to race close to the heels of MULTIMAX.

MONEYMORE travelled wide and without cover for the majority of the race and lay out in the middle stages.

Near the 350 Metres, TIGERLAD was steadied when momentarily crowded for room between HARBOUR ALERT which shifted out and MONEYMORE which lay in.

The performance of SUPREME PATROL, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable.

Before being allowed to race again, SUPREME PATROL will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

After the race, J Moreira stated that SUPREME PLUS did not travel well at any stage of the race.

He said he was required to niggle at the horse throughout the race in an endeavour to have it maintain its position.

He said, in his opinion, SUPREME PLUS did not handle today's track conditions.

A veterinary inspection of SUPREME PLUS immediately following the race including an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea.

Before being allowed to race again, SUPREME PLUS will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

A veterinary inspection of MOON PEAKS, HARBOUR ALERT and TIGERLAD immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

SUPREME PLUS, GREAT SON and KWAI CHUNG ELITE were sent for sampling.
