Racing Incident Report
Race Eight: (388) - CINERARIA HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1000Meters
J Moreira (KA YING MASTER) was fined the sum of $3,000 for initially weighing out with two saddles which required him to be re-weighed.
NUREMBERG was slow to begin and then was steadied away from the heels of GOKO which shifted in.
HONG KONG WIN was steadied in the early stages and shifted across behind runners to obtain cover.
G van Niekerk (BALTIC WHISPER) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that for some distance approaching and passing the 600 Metres he permitted his mount to shift out when not clear of HARMONY AND RICH, causing that horse to be taken out onto BEAUT BEAUT and for those horses to be unnecessarily crowded for room and for BEAUT BEAUT to be taken out onto GOKO which was steadied and lost the running to which it was rightfully entitled.
G van Niekerk was suspended from riding in races for a period to commence on Wednesday, 26 February 2020 and to expire on Monday, 2 March 2020 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays).
In addition, G van Niekerk was fined $60,000.
A veterinary inspection of BALTIC WHISPER immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
A veterinary inspection of SUPER JUNIOR immediately following the race found that horse to be a "roarer??which had previously been reported.
HONG KONG WIN and VALIANT DREAM were sent for sampling.

Hong Kong Win kept on nicely after hitting the front 150m out travelling behind midfield on the far side from a low draw carrying top weight. He's proven an effective sprinter at both tracks. Valiant Dream kept on gamely after chasing the speed on the stands side to edge early favourite Harmony And Rich for second. It was another fine run after winning his past two starts. Harmony And Rich peaked on his run 50m out following a prominent run. He had his chance but has made a good impression in his three starts at both tracks. Utopia Life stuck on reasonably well to fill the frame sitting up on the speed near the far side. He's honest but has trouble winning. Ka Ying Master gradually faded vying for the lead from a low draw. He likes this trip but doesn't have much upside off his current mark. Kasi Farasi stayed on better sitting midfield one from the far side from a low draw. He might not be too far off a bottom and is better suited over a longer trip.
