Racing Incident Report
Race Eight: (122) - SPEED VISION HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1200Meters
On arrival at the Start, G van Niekerk expressed concern regarding the action of GREEN MOUNTAIN.
GREEN MOUNTAIN was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said after the necessary consultations the horse was suitable to race.
A veterinary inspection of GREEN MOUNTAIN immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Also on arrival at the Start, A Domeyer expressed concern regarding the action of HARRIER JET.
HARRIER JET was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said after the necessary consultations the horse was suitable to race.
SKYEY SUPREME was bumped shortly after the start by FIRST RESPONDER which shifted out.
After this, SKYEY SUPREME was shifted across behind runners to obtain cover.
From a wide barrier, WON WON TOO was steadied to obtain cover in the early stages.
From the outside barrier, HARRIER JET was steadied in the early stages to obtain cover, however, making the first turn at the 1000 Metres was left racing wide and was steadied further behind MONKEY JEWELLERY to obtain cover near the 900 Metres.
When being ridden along in the early stages, SMART LEADER was steadied near the 1150 Metres when crowded for room between ARDENODE and JUMBO HAPPINESS which shifted out away from BREEDERS' STAR.
MONKEY JEWELLERY travelled very wide and without cover making the first turn and after the 800 Metres was allowed to improve its position, however, continued to race wide and without cover for the remainder of the race.
ARDENODE travelled keenly when racing without cover in the middle stages.
At the entrance to the Straight, FIRST RESPONDER was awkwardly placed close to the heels of GREEN MOUNTAIN and passing the 300 Metres was shifted to the inside of BREEDERS' STAR to obtain clear running.
A veterinary inspection of JUMBO HAPPINESS immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
LE TERROIR and FIRST RESPONDER were sent for sampling.

Odds-on choice Le Terroir led and kept up a strong gallop to ring up a four win from his past five starts over this Valley trip. He keeps stepping up and has the tools to win another at the top of this grade. First Responder finished well despite being held up at a crucial stage in the stretch drive following a handy run to finish a clear-cut second. Breeders' Star had his chance following a box-seat run. The big weight anchored him. Smacked late in betting, Smart Leader plugged away following a midfield run to fill the frame. Like the latter, the back-breaking weight didn't help. Monkey Jewellery kept on all right despite a torrid run in a prominent spot from a wide gate. You can put a pen through this run. Jade Theatre was the only one to emerge from the back after fading to sit second last from a tricky gate. He's not too far off a bottom. Jumbo Happiness never came on from behind midfield. He can produce an unexpected bad run now and then.
