Favourite Ugly Warrior was never headed on the lead to easily make it two from two in his career on this surface. He's still learning but has more points in hand on this surface. Elusive State closed off nicely after a patient ride fourth from the rear to grab second on the wire. He's a winner waiting to happen on this surface up to a mile. Punted late Grade One stuck on well following a prominent run without cover to just miss second. He has come into his own this campaign with positive runs on both surfaces. Amazing Race loomed a chance of finishing in the Quinella spot at the 200m following a one-off run ahead of midfield but peaked on his run 100m out. The big weight was his undoing. Superior Boy ran on late from near the back in a pleasing first run on the surface. He keeps promising without delivering but might be worth a try over a mile on this surface. Lucky Time had no excuse following a prominent run in his initial run on the dirt.

Racing Incident Report

Race Four: (275) - LUKFOOK JEWELLERY PT GRACEFUL COLLECTION HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1200Meters

HUMBLE STEED was slow to begin.

Shortly after the start, ELUSIVE STATE was crowded for room between RESPECT and UGLY WARRIOR which shifted out after being brushed by BEAUTY LOVE.

In this incident, RESPECT lost ground after being bumped by ELUSIVE STATE.

Then, despite being ridden along, RESPECT failed to muster speed.

From the outside barrier, SUPERIOR BOY was steadied in the early stages and shifted across behind runners.

Passing the 900 Metres, LUCKY TIME became unbalanced when racing tight outside AASHIQUI.

Making the turn after the 700 Metres, RESPECT shifted out when awkwardly placed close to the heels of AMAZING RACE and in doing so bumped CHATER THUNDER which was forced wider.

CHATER THUNDER then lay out making the turn.

HUMBLE STEED made the turn after the 700 Metres awkwardly, got its head on the side and lay out.

Throughout the race, GRADE ONE travelled wide and without cover.

When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of AASHIQUI, N Rawiller stated that after being able to obtain a forward position in the early stages, UGLY WARRIOR showed superior speed to AASHIQUI and he therefore allowed that horse to cross AASHIQUI after the 900 Metres as he would have had to ride his mount along in order to prevent UGLY WARRIOR from immediately crossing AASHIQUI.

He said near the 800 Metres AASHIQUI got its head up when racing close to the heels of UGLY WARRIOR as a result of AASHIQUI being immature and not handling the slight change in tempo.

He said after this AASHIQUI travelled well and rounding the Home Turn he anticipated that the horse would finish off the race well given that it was still travelling satisfactorily at this stage.

He added in the early part of the Straight AASHIQUI came under pressure and then, despite being ridden out, gave ground noticeably over the latter stages of the race to finish at the rear of the field.

A veterinary inspection of AASHIQUI immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

The performance of AASHIQUI was considered unacceptable.

Before being allowed to race again, AASHIQUI will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

A veterinary inspection of RESPECT immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that COURAGEOUS BROTHER was lame in its left front leg.

Before being allowed to race again, COURAGEOUS BROTHER will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

UGLY WARRIOR and ELUSIVE STATE were sent for sampling.
