Racing Incident Report
Race Six: (748)-CROOKED ISLAND HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1650Metres
On arrival at the Start, it was noted that GENTRY had lost its left front plate.After this plate was refitted, GENTRY was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion it was suitable to race.
VICTORY FOLLOW ME was slow to begin.
HIT A HOME RUN began very awkwardly, shifted in and bumped the hindquarters of BORN TO RACE which also was bumped by WIN FOR CHARITY which shifted out after beginning awkwardly.
A short distance after this, HIT A HOME RUN was crowded for room between EXCELLENCE and BORN TO RACE which shifted out.
Then from wide barriers, HIT A HOME RUN, EXCELLENCE and LET'S TAKE IT EASY were all shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Shortly after the start, WIN FOR CHARITY, after bumping BORN TO RACE, became unbalanced and shifted in and in doing so bumped the hindquarters of CHARITY KINGDOM, resulting in WIN FOR CHARITY (C Murray) blundering.
C Murray said after WIN FOR CHARITY blundered, he then rode his mount along in an attempt to take up a forward position, however, WIN FOR CHARITY did not appear comfortable in its action in front and as he believed that the horse may have suffered an injury when it blundered, he then commenced to ease it out of the race approaching the 1500 Metres.
A veterinary inspection of WIN FOR CHARITY immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Before being allowed to race again, WIN FOR CHARITY will be required to perform satisfactorily in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
In the middle stages, CONTRIBUTION travelled keenly in the lead.
GENTRY lost its left front plate near the 700 Metres.
Approaching the 500 Metres, EXCELLENCE was awkwardly placed close to the heels of VICTORY FOLLOW ME.
Near the 450 Metres, HIT A HOME RUN and LET'S TAKE IT EASY raced tight as HIT A HOME RUN shifted out to improve.
BORN TO RACE lost its right front plate near the 300 Metres.
Near the 250 Metres, VICTORY FOLLOW ME was shifted to the inside of GENTRY.
VICTORY FOLLOW ME then raced in restricted room inside GENTRY passing the 200 Metres and then passing the 100 Metres was shifted out away from the heels of CONTRIBUTION after being awkwardly placed behind that horse.
Near the 50 Metres, U Rispoli (CHARITY KINGDOM) dropped his whip.
After the 50 Metres, GENTRY raced tight inside BORN TO RACE.
A veterinary inspection of RAGING BULL immediately following the race revealed that the horse was displaying an irregular heart rhythm and was also lame in its left front leg.
Before being allowed to race again, RAGING BULL will be required to perform satisfactorily in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
CONTRIBUTION, IMPERIAL GALLANTRY and GO GO WIN were sent for sampling.

Imperial Gallantry came with a bold move to win going away 60m out after biding his time patiently fifth from the rear. He has lots of ability but is a temperamental type that requires an experienced rider. Go Go Win rushed forward from a wide gate to sit second in the run, advanced to the lead 100m out and was no match for the winner. He's as honest as the day is long but always seems to find one or a few too good. Born To Race stayed on well following a midfield run to get up in the final few metres for third. The blinkers have improved him and he should be winning shortly. Victory Follow Me got the bob down for fourth but should have gone closer if not held up for a clear run behind the tiring leader Contribution. He's near a bottom. Gentry was tight for room from the 200m to 100m following a prominent run. He had excuses. Favourite Contribution was yielding ground 150m out after getting his own way out front. He's been costly after a win four starts back and may need more time to fill out. Specked late, Hit A Home Run was getting going late after settling next-to-last following an awkward break. Prefer him in Class Five. Win For Charity went amiss and was eased down passing the 1,200m.
