Racing Incident Report
Race Three: (501)-AMBITIOUS DRAGON HANDICAP - Class 1 - 1400Metres
ABLE FRIEND was withdrawn on 17.3.17 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame right fore).GIANT TREASURE was withdrawn on 18.3.17 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (swollen right fore suspensory).
Before being allowed to race again, ABLE FRIEND and GIANT TREASURE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
Near the 450 Metres, INVINCIBLE DRAGON raced tight between HELENE PARAGON and SUN JEWELLERY.
Near the 100 Metres, INVINCIBLE DRAGON was struck over the nose by the whip of Z Purton (SUN JEWELLERY).
When questioned, T Berry (HELENE PARAGON) stated that he decided to make his run sooner than he otherwise would have prior to the 600 Metres as the race had been run at an average tempo and, with top weight, he did not want HELENE PARAGON to be outsprinted when the pace of the race quickened.
He said even though he improved into the race at this time, HELENE PARAGON did not show the same turn of foot as other runners and was not able to sustain its run over the concluding stages.
A veterinary inspection of HELENE PARAGON immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
INVINCIBLE DRAGON, DASHING FELLOW and CONTENTMENT were sent for sampling.

Firming late, Dashing Fellow led as expected and found a second wind when just headed by Contentment 350m out to regain victory in deep stretch in a thrilling finish despite the tiny five-horse field. He was suited by the lightweight suited but is always a chance when allowed to dictate his own pace over this trip. Contentment poked his head in front after travelling third in the run and just lost out in a spirited duel. He's beyond his better days but continues to run consistently in the top grade. Odds-on favourite Invincible Dragon just overhauled Sun Jewellery after travelling second from the rear for a placing. He's better on top of the ground than the wet conditions. Sun Jewellery stayed on better after stalking the speed in second. He stayed on a shade better but continues his disappointing run this term. Helene Paragon was asked to pick up 550m out to loom a chance soon after straightening but came up flat inside the last 150m. The wet ground conditions and big weight took its toll.
