Very Rich Man hit the front 60m out following a prominent run along the fence and held off the late surge of favourite CP Power for a first win at his third start. His lead-up work had been rock solid and he could head higher. He should get 1,200m as well. C P Power finished strongly down the outside after a deep run from behind midfield. The blinkers appeared to help and he remains one to following over a sprint at either track. Lucky Seven added to two pleasing runs late last term when staying on gamely after a handy run without cover from a tricky gate to place. He'll be hard to beat when drawing a good gate. It was an improved third start this term by Prompt Express who just failed to get up for a placing after a rare patiently-ridden run and isn't far off a drop in grade where he should be a winning chance. Lyric Ace grudgingly gave way over the final 150m after being pressured for the front by Rugby Diamond. He'll certainly come on for this run.

Race Five: (061)-OSMANTHUS HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1000Metres

THE FULL BLOOM began awkwardly, bumped the hindquarters of OCTAL LUCK and lost ground at the start.

TRENDIFUL jumped in at the start and made contact with PROMPT EXPRESS.

From wide barriers, OCTAL LUCK and NASHASHUK were shifted across behind runners in the early stages to obtain cover.

After the 700 Metres, TRENDIFUL was left racing wide and without cover.

Passing the 600 Metres, NASHASHUK got its head up and became awkwardly placed when racing tight between C P POWER and FUNNY BUDDIES.

After the 250 Metres, THE FULL BLOOM was shifted to the outside of the heels of FUNNY BUDDIES which shifted in under pressure.

Passing the 200 Metres, O Bosson (LUCKY SEVEN) had his whip knocked from his grasp by the whip of Apprentice H N Wong (RUGBY DIAMOND).

Over the final 100 Metres, FUNNY BUDDIES was inclined to lay in under pressure.

After leaving the 100 Metres, PROMPT EXPRESS was accidentally struck across the nose by the whip of K C Leung (LYRIC ACE).

When questioned, S Clipperton stated that PEACE COMBINATION was ridden forward in accordance with its normal racing pattern, however, had difficulty going with the early pace and as a consequence he was unable to prevent LUCKY SEVEN from crossing PEACE COMBINATION near the 600 Metres.

He said once crossed by LUCKY SEVEN, PEACE COMBINATION travelled satisfactorily, however, came under pressure well before the Home Turn and then proved very disappointing with its finishing effort.
