Firming late, Circuit Land eased back from a wide gate to eventually settle third from the rear along the fence, swung the final bend with two deeper out and finished willingly to overhaul favourite Sichuan Vigour in the final few metres to remain unbeaten in both dirt outings over this trip. Sichuan Vigour settled one-out, one-back, advanced to the front three deep at the 150m and found one better on the day. Savvy Nature settled one off the fence worse than midfield, rallied six deep upon straightening and closed off well to snatch third on the line in an improved effort with a switch to the dirt. Racing Hero stayed on well after pulling off the fence three deep at the 200m following a box-seat run to just miss a placing. Pablosky went a bit too quickly on the speed and was on his tippy toes 100m out. Twin Delight kept grinding away after stalking the leader one off the fence. Jun Huo didn't get going widest out after travelling one off the fence fourth from the rear. Eroico was posted four deep without cover for the most part in midfield and was struggling soon after straightening. Majestic Falcon never let down.

Racing Incident Report

Race Eight: (479)-THE MERLION HANDICAP - Class 2 - 1650Metres

After being loaded, CIRCUIT LAND became fractious and reared on a number of occasions.

Before being allowed to race again, CIRCUIT LAND will be required to perform satisfactorily in a stalls test.

FIGHT HERO and JUN HUO began awkwardly.

From wide barriers, MAJESTIC ANTHEM and CIRCUIT LAND were steadied in the early stages and shifted across behind runners.

Throughout the race, EROICO travelled wide and without cover and in the Straight gave ground.

The performance of FIGHT HERO, which finished tailed out after being obliged to travel wide and without cover throughout the race, was considered unacceptable.

Before being allowed to race again, FIGHT HERO will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

A veterinary inspection of EROICO, JUN HUO and FIGHT HERO immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

CIRCUIT LAND and SICHUAN VIGOUR were sent for sampling.
