Recap by phillip woo

Rewarding Hero inched forward to travel in the box-seat, slipped through along the inside to lead 150m out and kept on gamely for the win. Raging favourite Luger settled oneout, one-back, worked to the lead four deep at the 200m and came up flat passing the 100m. Punted late, Multivictory had his own way up front, cornered a length on top and gradually gave way. Khaya got going two from the right after travelling second from the rear to add some value to the Quartet. Beauty Only didn't let down on the outside after travelling at the tail of the field in a disappointing run. Celestial Smile was stopping 200m out after stalking the speed.

Racing Incident Report

Race Two: (473)-LION CITY HANDICAP - Class 1 - 1600Metres

CELESTIAL SMILE began awkwardly and lost its right front plate.

BEAUTY ONLY was crowded for room shortly after the start between LUGER and REWARDING HERO which was taken out by KHAYA.

After this, despite being ridden along in the early stages, KHAYA failed to muster speed.

Passing the 350 Metres, MULTIVICTORY drifted out under pressure.

When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of BEAUTY ONLY, N Callan stated that after having ridden the horse throughout most its career in Hong Kong he is of the opinion that BEAUTY ONLY is best suited on tracks where there is no give.

He said today whilst it was good racing surface, there was some cut in the track and this was the only reason he could attribute to the horse's failure to close off the race.

A veterinary inspection of BEAUTY ONLY immediately following the race did not show any significant findings, however, due to the fractious nature of the horse, an endoscopic examination was unable to be performed.

A veterinary inspection of CELESTIAL SMILE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

REWARDING HERO and LUGER were sent for sampling.
