Recap by phillip woo

Multivictory travelled third from the rear along the fence instead of his customary spot up on the speed, switched into the open with two wider out at the 350m and let down brilliantly to get up in deep stretch for a second win from his past three starts. Early favourite Packing Pins worked forward three deep to park outside the leader Exciting Dream, assumed the front 300m out and found one better on the day. Contentment stayed on a non-threatening third following a handy run without cover. I'm In Charge settled one off the fence in midfield, angled outside runners for a clear run five deep at the 300m and ran on nicely thereafter to grab fourth 50m out. Packing Llaregyb made some ground without menacing widest out after travelling at the tail of the field following a tardy break from a wide alley. Super Lifeline eased back to travel one-out, one-back, rounded the final bend near four deep and kept up an even gallop over the final 200m. Rewarding Hero came up one-paced over the final 250m.

Racing Incident Report

Race Nine: (299)-THE CHINESE CLUB CHALLENGE CUP (HANDICAP) - Hong Kong Group Three - 1400Metres

From the outside barriers, DAN EXCEL and PACKING LLAREGYB were shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

Despite being ridden along in the early stages, MULTIVICTORY failed to muster speed.

After the 1000 Metres, CONTENTMENT and KEY WITNESS were left racing wide and without cover.

For some distance after the 600 Metres, MULTIVICTORY proved very difficult to settle and was checked away from the heels of REWARDING HERO.

SECRET SHAM and I'M IN CHARGE were held up for clear running in the early part of the Straight.

Passing the 400 Metres, MULTIVICTORY shifted out and bumped DAN EXCEL.

Near the 100 Metres, KEY WITNESS was steadied when crowded for room between REWARDING HERO which shifted out and DAN EXCEL which was taken in by PACKING LLAREGYB which lay in under pressure.

Over the concluding stages, CONTENTMENT was awkwardly placed inside the heels of MULTIVICTORY (Y T Cheng) which shifted in under pressure.

Y T Cheng was reprimanded and advised that in similar circumstances he would be expected to stop riding and straighten his mount.

When questioned, Mr J Moore, the trainer of EXCITING DREAM, stated that he did not believe it would be in the best interests of the horse to be ridden back in the field as it would not be able to give away too much start to the horses that he expected to take a strong hand in the race.

He said accordingly, he instructed K C Leung, the rider of EXCITING DREAM, to be positive on the horse in the early stages and take up a forward position if possible.

He said it is his intention in its future starts for EXCITING DREAM to be ridden positively where circumstances permit.

CONTENTMENT, MULTIVICTORY and PACKING PINS were sent for sampling.
