Recap by phillip woo

Favourite Smart Declaration sat underneath leader Golden Bauhinia, claimed the front soon after straightening and repelled the challenge of the late-fancied Jolly Posh over the final 200m for a first victory at his ninth outing. Jolly Posh was up pressing the leading pair in third and one off the rails, loomed a winning chance at the 200m and found one smarter on the evening. Touch Go travelled one off the rails fore of midfield, rounded the final bend four deep and ran on steadily to grab Golden Bauhinia for a placing 10m out. Golden Bauhinia led narrowly one off the rails, straightened three deep and was on his tippy toes over the last 100m. Genuine Champion settled worse than midfield and one off the rails, rounded the final bend six deep and ran on without menacing with late-market action. Diamond Master recovered to settle outside Touch Go in midfield after jumping slow from a wide gate, turned the final bend five deep and only held his ground over the final 200m in his initial Valley run. Gideon settled third from the rear and ran on with without ever looking a chance with two wider out. Medic Swordsman got by beaten rivals after bombing the start. Glory Sunshine did not run on after a handy run along the rails in a disappointing performance.

Racing Incident Report

Race Two: (506)-HONOUR HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1000Metres

MEDIC SWORDSMAN stood flat-footed as the start was effected and consequently lost a considerable amount of ground.

Before being allowed to race again, MEDIC SWORDSMAN will be required to perform satisfactorily in a stalls test.

DIAMOND MASTER was slow to begin.

GENUINE CHAMPION was shifted across behind runners shortly after the start.

From the outside barrier, GIDEON was steadied and shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

Making the turn near the 700 Metres, NAMJONG SURPRISE got its head on the side and lay out.

Throughout the race, GOLDEN BAUHINIA travelled wide and without cover.

After the race, D Lane (GLORY SUNSHINE) could not offer any explanation for the disappointing performance of the horse.

He said his mount travelled well in a good position, but then did not respond to his riding when placed under pressure.

A veterinary inspection of GLORY SUNSHINE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

A veterinary inspection of HIGHLAND DRAGON immediately following the race including an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of mucus in the horse's trachea and confirmed the horse to be a "roarer" which had previously been reported.

SMART DECLARATION and JOLLY POSH were sent for sampling.
