Thunder Fantasy rolled forward from a wide gate to sit one off in second behind the leader Twin Delight, hit the front 300m, was headed by Redkirk Warrior at the 150m and fought back late to get the bob in for an upset win with a key move to the hood. Redkirk Warrior settled one-out, one-back from the widest gate, advanced to the front 150m out and was nipped on the wire while wandering about over the final 100m. Giant Treasure settled midfield and one off the rails, straightened three deep and ran on steadily for a placing. Favourite Beauty Only travelled fourth from the rear and one off the rails, swung the final bend with two wider out and was doing some nice work late to just grab fourth ahead of Helene Happy Star, who was really pulling back the ground late after making his run second from the rear and will be crying out for the Derby trip of 2,000m. Obliterator recovered to travel one off with cover in midfield after a sluggish break, cornered five deep and was grinding away without menacing. Contentment had no excuses after travelling keenly in the box-seat and came up one-paced over the final 150m. Savvy Nature was running on when the race was all.

Racing Incident Report

Race Nine: (399)-THE HONG KONG CLASSIC CUP - Hong Kong Group One - 1800Metres

OBLITERATOR began only fairly.

Approaching the 1500 Metres, TOP ACE was steadied when crowded for room between OBLITERATOR and BEAUTY ONLY, both of which shifted ground.

Near the 1400 Metres, TOP ACE was left racing wide and without cover.

At the 400 Metres, TOP ACE was momentarily steadied away from the heels of OBLITERATOR which got its head on the side and shifted out.

Passing the 200 Metres, REDKIRK WARRIOR got its head on the side and shifted out, resulting in its rider having to stop riding and straighten.

Then near the 100 Metres, REDKIRK WARRIOR shifted in under pressure.

After the race, U Rispoli, the rider of GOLDEN SLEEP, which proved very difficult to manage throughout the early and middle stages and over-raced badly, reported that his saddle shifted forward after the 1600 Metres, placing him at a significant disadvantage for the remainder of the race.

A veterinary inspection of TWIN DELIGHT immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

BEAUTY ONLY, THUNDER FANTASY and REDKIRK WARRIOR were sent for sampling.
