He’s endured a run of near misses at Sha Tin, but David Eustace has had no such trouble converting at Happy Valley and the newest member of Hong Kong’s training roster again looks a chance to be among the winners at the city circuit on Wednesday night.
While Eustace is winless from 19 Sha Tin runners, including five placegetters from his past seven starters, the 32-year-old is striking at 27 per cent at Happy Valley, with Young Emperor one of his four winners from 15 runners.
Young Emperor lines up in Wednesday night’s Class Three Fung Mo Handicap (1,200m), with the three-year-old attempting to maintain his unbeaten Hong Kong record after an impressive debut victory as a $42 chance late last month.
Young Emperor denied fellow Hong Kong debutant Romantic Son by half a length at the same course and distance carrying three pounds more than his rival.
Massive win! 🚀

On this occasion, Young Emperor gives eight pounds to the David Hayes-trained Romantic Son, who was the $2.5 favourite in their first meeting.
Young Emperor will be ridden by Luke Ferraris and jump from gate nine, while Zac Purton pilots Romantic Son from barrier three.
“I thought it was a really good win,” Ferraris said of Young Emperor’s last-start effort from gate eight. “It caught everyone a bit by surprise, so that’s always a good thing.
“He’s got a similar barrier this time round, but he’s showing us that he does have a pretty lethal turn of foot and I think he can get a similar run in transit.”
Young Emperor and Romantic Son are far from the only in-form gallopers in the midweek finale, with Sugar Sugar and Denfield entering the contest off last-start successes and Eason, Gustosisimo, Prawns Eleven and Sky Forever also showing plenty in recent outings.
