John Size has pinpointed Beauty Infinity as the pick of his Happy Valley runners on Wednesday night as the veteran trainer prepares for a strong assault on Sunday’s Classic Cup.

The 12-time Hong Kong premiership winner has a consistent team of five gallopers set for Happy Valley, including promising four-year-old Beauty Infinity in the first section of the Class Four Tsuen Wan Handicap (1,200m).

Size will then turn his focus to Sha Tin on Sunday, where he will hold a powerful hand in the HK$13 million Classic Cup (1,800m) with nominal favourite Helios Express and Ensued.

Beauty Infinity has shown potential in his debut season, scoring at the city circuit at start two in January and rattling home for a close second to impressive debutant Super Joy N Fun last start.

“He’s done well and he probably looks like a likely winner in the class he’s in,” Size said.

“He carries a bit of weight [135 pounds] but he’s probably earned that. He seems pretty consistent and he seems like he’s going to win his Class Four and then win again, so I’d be hoping he gets a nice run.

“He nearly won [last start], he got pretty close on the line and hopefully he can go one better.”

Champion jockey Zac Purton will again ride Beauty Infinity in the final race on the Happy Valley card.

Size will start the meeting with the consistent Diamond Winner searching for a breakthrough win in the Class Five Sai Kung Handicap (1,800m).

Raging Blizzard and Endeared also boast solid claims for the Australian handler, while A Americ Te Specso will chase back-to-back victories when he lines up in the second section of the Class Three Kwai Chung Handicap (1,200m).

“Diamond Winner’s very consistent,” Size said. “He runs the same race all the time. He struggles to win, but he puts himself in the finish, so his consistency will probably get him a win soon.

“Endeared goes to the Valley for the first time. It’s a little bit of an awkward draw in nine, but he can probably go forward and follow the leader and get outside the leader at least.

“He might find the company at Happy Valley a little bit weaker and that might give him a chance to win in Class Three.

“A Americ Te Specso has been very consistent. He normally likes a race with a bit of pace on. I’m not sure if he’ll get that here, but alternatively he’s got a good gate.

“He’s drawn two, so therefore he can probably travel sixth or seventh and still be close enough to win, even if they don’t go quick enough for him.”

Helios Express will bid for the second leg of the four-year-old Classic Series after recording a dominant win in the Classic Mile (1,600m) last start.

Ensued also tackles the Classic Cup in top form with three wins and a close last-start second this season.

Meanwhile, Size has ruled Young Champion out of the BMW Hong Kong Derby (2,000m) after the Zoustar gelding’s superb 1,400m win at Sha Tin last Sunday.

“After watching him race on the weekend, it looks like [the Derby] wouldn’t be suitable for him,” Size said.

“I had to see him at his second start to really know for sure, because I’d only seen him race once in Hong Kong. But after watching him on the weekend, I’m pretty sure he doesn’t need to do that. I think he’ll run on March 16 in a Class Two over 1,400m.”
