Jockey Chad Schofield will miss at least the next two race meetings after coming down with chickenpox.
The 27-year-old started to feel ill on Monday night and went to hospital to be diagnosed, which is where he will remain for the next few days as he recovers.
Schofield was booked for seven rides at Sha Tin on Thursday but replacements have now been found.
“The club’s chief medical officer has advised the stewards that jockey Chad Schofield will be indisposed for upcoming race meetings due to a medical condition unrelated to Covid-19 and consequently has been stood down from his race riding engagements at Sha Tin on Thursday, 1 July 2021,” the Jockey Club said in a statement.
Zac Purton takes the ride on Diamond Star in the opener, Blake Shinn jumps aboard Destine Jewellery (race two), Jerry Chau Chun-lok is now booked for Happy Gathering (race three), Vagner Borges will partner Aion (race five), Harry Bentley gets the call-up for Flying Quest (race seven), Tony Piccone is engaged for Armor Star (race eight) and Dylan Mo Hin-tung gets to pilot Quadruple Double in the last.
Schofield has 24 winners and 66 placegetters this season.
