Raging Blitzkrieg is yet to land his first Hong Kong victory but can turn that around in the Class Three Hong Kong Riding for the Disabled Association Cup at Sha Tin (1,200m) on Saturday.

The John Size-trained gelding won two of his six races in France when known as Ajmal before arriving at his new home where he has accumulated a record of two seconds from nine starts.

But while the record doesn’t look flash, he has shown glimpses and it generally takes European horses a little bit longer to deliver their best.

There have also been time where Raging Blitzkrieg has had no luck, like last start, which punters should just put a line through.

He was trapped four-wide without cover throughout and Joao Moreira used him up in the middle stages to try and get a position but when he ran out of gas with 200m to go, the jockey was soft on him in the run to the line.

Size switches Raging Blitzkrieg to the all-weather track for this event and the trainer has a terrific record when his horses run on the dirt for the first time.

He has tuned up for this event by winning two barrier trials on the surface – both in impressive fashion after covering plenty of ground.

From barrier eight, Moreira is likely to push forward and could settle just behind the likes of California Archer (Sam Clipperton) and Massive Pocket (Tommy Berry), who have to overcome wide draws.

That could leave Raging Blitzkrieg one-out, one back and ready to pounce at the top of the straight.

It is a race full of imports looking for their first Hong Kong victories and three who fit that profile look like the biggest dangers.

The Michael Freedman-trained California Archer has improved in each of his three runs, finishing second to the talented Raging Storm last start and but he has to overcome the outside gate.

John Moore’s Taking Aim (Brett Prebble) is another edging closer to a win, finishing third to Comfort Life last start. He has drawn well in barrier four but is yet to race or even trial on the all-weather track so there is a question about how he will handle it.

Gameplayer Error (Umberto Rispoli), from the Frankie Lor Fu-chuen stable, also creates interest after hitting the line nicely to finish second over the track and distance last start.
