Multigogo has burned punters more than once in his relatively short career but now might be the time to jump on if you haven’t been on his team before now.

Last season, Multigogo showed good ability in some trials before dropping the ball in his races and, when he returned this season with blinkers, he looked a better, stronger version of himself and ready to live up to those promises.

There was not much of a guide in his first run, when he was checked out of a race up the straight in the early stages, and then he fought Joao Moreira in the lead at his second run, so he looked on the slippery slope to Class Five.

But, with the blinkers taken off again on Sunday, Multigogo relaxed much better but was attacked in the early and middle stages by Look Eras and Wish Come True and made to earn his place in the lead.

When heads turned for home this time, though, Multigogo kept fighting on before surrendering late to E Master, coming from the box seat, and Ambitious Heart, who charged from the back of the field.

This was a much tougher effort, enabled by him relaxing without the headgear, and Multigogo looks ready to start repaying his followers now that the tinkering seems to have him just right.

The winner, E Master, is certainly worth following too, as he still looks open to improvement in his racecraft and any horse able to win his first racecourse start against more experienced runners gets plenty of pluses for that.

The other obvious black book entry was Alcari in the opening race as he was quite comprehensive beating Lucky Lucky and Amazing Star.

Yiu said post-race that he was happy to send Alcari to the races with only a very soft single trial behind him and had complete faith in his talent.

Yiu has been adept over the years at getting young horses to win at their debut then build into quality performers – think Sacred Kingdom, Fairy King Prawn or current top sprinter Blizzard, to name just three – and Alcari looks a horse with a future.
