There were a few nervous moments, but Able Friend swept them aside in the manner of a champion as he strode clear to record another Group One success in the Queen's Silver Jubilee Cup.

The step back to 1,400m proved little concern for the giant John Moore-prepared chestnut, but the trainer admitted to some jitters as jockey Joao Moreira tried to bullock out of a pocket on the home turn.

"I was about to call my cardio specialist at the top of the straight," Moore quipped after Able Friend's two and a quarter length win over Tony Cruz's Beauty Flame, with last year's winner Gold-Fun third. "But he sprinted like the superstar we know he is. He's the best miler in the world and he's proven himself again today."

Owner Dr Cornel Li Fook-kwan confirmed the superstar would have two more runs in Hong Kong before he looks at potential overseas targets like the Queen Anne Stakes at Royal Ascot or Japan's Yasuda Kinen.

His next run will be in the Group Two Chairman's Trophy (1,600m) on April 7 before attempting to go one better in this year's Group One Champions Mile (1,600m) on May 3, a race in which he finished second to South African star Variety Club last year.

It was Moreira's fourth win of the day and his second Group One win in two days after winning the Newmarket Handicap in Melbourne aboard Chris Waller-trained Brazen Beau.

"We didn't want to be on the inside, but I had to ride him for luck," the Brazilian rider said. "With 200 metres to go I was locked up and it took a little while for the gap to come, but when it came, he just burst through and was full of running."

"What more can I say - he's a special horse."
