Confident that his horse will run a strong 1,600m, jockey Karis Teetan says he will allow the John Size-trained Thunder Fantasy to roll along in Sunday’s HK$8 million Hong Kong Classic Mile at Sha Tin.

“There are a few there in the race that are suspect at the trip, and some that are first time out that might want to sit back, but I’ve got no concerns with my horse,” he said.

Thunder Fantasy never won beyond 1,400m in Australia but was twice placed at Group One level against his own age group, in the Australian Guineas over 1,600m and the Rosehill Guineas over 2,000m, and was third in the 2013 Victoria Derby over a mile and a half.

The son of Lucky Owners has run twice over a mile since arriving, with the 91-rated import a strong fourth first-up before Teetan jumped aboard for the first time and he failed to make ground against a leader bias when sixth behind Flame Hero two weeks ago.
