Former Godolphin trainer Mahmood al-Zarooni has withdrawn an appeal against his eight-year worldwide ban for doping race horses at his stables in Newmarket.
Al-Zarooni launched an appeal this month. But the British Horseracing Authority said on Wednesday it received notice from his solicitors that he will no longer be appealing.
Al-Zarooni, 37, was found guilty of administering anabolic steroids to 15 horses in his care at a BHA hearing on April 25. The horses have all been banned from running for six months, and all horses at al-Zarooni’s yard have been tested
Godolphin trainer Saeed bin Suroor is set to assume control of the stables. All of his horses were checked by the BHA and tested negative.
