You'll welcome this warming dish as the temperature drops
If you're studying in Europe or North America, it's going to start getting cold pretty soon. This recipe is a filling, impressive, but really easy dish to share with friends. The amounts given below are for a 4- to 5 1/2-quart slow cooker.

Ingredients (serves 6)
900g lean ground beef
1 medium yellow onion, finely chopped
3 1/2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
3 1/2 tbsp tomato paste
280g cheddar cheese, grated (about 2 ½ cups)
1 1/4 cups whole wheat or regular penne
3 tbsp jarred pickle relish or salsa
Method
1 Stir the ground beef, onion, Worcestershire sauce and tomato paste in a large bowl until the meat and onion are slathered in the sauce and tomato paste.
2 Make even, full layers of the ingredients in the slow cooker in this order: half the meat mixture, half the cheese, all of the pasta, all of the relish or salsa, all of the ketchup, the remainder of the meat mixture, and the remainder of the cheese.
3 Cover and cook on low for 5 hours, or until the cheese has melted and browned a bit at the edges, and until the casserole is fairly firm to the touch. You can keep this on warm for 3 hours.
