A male teacher at St Mary’s Canossian College in Hong Kong has been arrested for installing a hidden camera in a school toilet. Sources told the SCMP that the teacher admitted to the crime and was arrested on October 7, with two students identified as victims. The school has suspended the teacher and is offering support to students.
A cleaner discovered the hidden camera while working, and upon inspection, found recordings of the two victims, one source said.
The school said in a statement issued earlier on Monday that it had handed over the case, including the device, to police for further investigation.
Reports were also filed with the school’s management committee and the Education Bureau.
“The staff member concerned has been suspended from all duties, prohibited from entering the school premises and forbidden from contacting any students or other staff members through direct or indirect means,” the school said, adding that the measures took effect last Wednesday.

The school said it was “gravely concerned” about the safety of all members of its community, and that an inspection had been conducted promptly on campus, especially in all washrooms and changing rooms.
In addition, school authorities deployed psychologists, social workers and teachers on campus to offer support to students and help them manage their emotions, according to the statement.
The SCMP has reached out to the Education Bureau and police force for comment.
Police’s Yau Tsim Mong district investigation team is investigating the case.
Separately in April, 31-year-old Citybus senior operations officer Cheung Chun-hong was sentenced to six months in prison for three counts of voyeurism, after he disguised himself as a pupil and entered a female toilet in Good Hope School in Wong Tai Sin to plant a hidden camera.
Kowloon City Court heard Cheung was confronted by two students who caught him in the act, while subsequent investigations found 16 sets of girls’ school uniforms, female undergarments, wigs and make-up during a search in his Tseung Kwan O home.
