Racing Incident Report
Race One : (496) - WAGLAN ISLAND HANDICAP - Class 5 - 1000Meters
Horse No 1 CRYSTAL POWERFUL (H068) A Atzeni Near the 300 Metres was bumped and taken wider by ACE TALENT.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 2 HAPPY HORSE (H061) E C W Wong After the event, Apprentice E C W Wong could offer no explanation for his mount's failure to respond to his riding in the Home Straight.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race which included an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea.
Before being allowed to race again, HAPPY HORSE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
Horse No 4 SO TREASURE (H351) K Teetan After the event, K Teetan advised that his mount failed to travel throughout the race and did not respond to his riding in the Home Straight.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 5 LIFE OF STONE (J374) K De Melo Slow to begin.
Despite being ridden along in the early stages failed to show sufficient pace to obtain a more forward position.
Horse No 6 DAY DAY VICTORY (J423) L Hewitson Jumped awkwardly.
From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Near the 600 Metres got its head up when being steadied to avoid TIMESTORM.
Horse No 7 EVER SMART (J179) H Bentley Jumped only fairly.
Horse No 8 WOOD ON FIRE (C460) M L Yeung Approaching the 900 Metres made contact with DIAMOND SOARS due to both runners shifting ground.
Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.
Horse No 9 ACE TALENT (H046) A Badel Jumped only fairly.
In the middle stages raced keenly.
Approaching the 300 Metres made contact with CRYSTAL POWERFUL when being shifted to the outside of DIAMOND SOARS to attempt to obtain clear running.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 11 DIAMOND SOARS (G201) B Thompson Approaching the 900 Metres made contact with WOOD ON FIRE due to both runners shifting ground.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 12 WIND SPEEDER (E281) M F Poon Approaching the 900 Metres was eased when momentarily crowded by WOOD ON FIRE which shifted in slightly.
Near the 150 Metres was momentarily crowded between WOOD ON FIRE and ACE TALENT which shifted out.

Crystal Powerful settled one out, one back and got up 50m out for a third win at his 28th local start. He relished a return to the Class Five level of a win last season. He will be back in Class Four but can bob up now and then. Diamond Soars stayed on well for second after assuming the lead from Happy Horse 200m out following a speed-tracking run from gate seven. He's building towards a win with placings in three of his past four starts. Punted late Ever Smart ran on well one off the fence for third after a rails run from midfield. He's getting close to a win off his current mark. Veteran Wind Speeder was doing his best work late for fourth after peeling off the favourite Ace Talent's back for a clear run near the 100m following a one-off trip from midfield. He continues to be a terrific money spinner for connections without winning this season. Modest Gentleman ran on steadily along the inside for fifth after finding a spot behind midfield on the fence from gate nine. It was another honest run over the Valley 1,000m. Favourite Ace Talent only plodded when asked for an effort following a box seat run. He's limited.
