Racing Incident Report
Race Eight : (110) - FLYING HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1200Meters
Horse No 1 NORDIC DRAGON (G467) H Bowman From the outside barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Lay in in the Home Straight.
As a consequence, H Bowman had difficulty in fully testing his mount over the final 100 Metres when it shifted in towards EASON.
Horse No 2 SUGAR SUGAR (G016) E C W Wong Shifted in shortly after the start, was bumped and became unbalanced.
After the event, Apprentice E C W Wong confirmed that from a wide barrier his instructions were to take up a forward position and cross to the lead if caught wide.
Horse No 3 POWER KOEPP (E301) M Chadwick Shortly after the start was crowded between ARMOUR EAGLE and SUGAR SUGAR which shifted in.
After the event, M Chadwick stated that his instructions were to endeavour to find cover.
He said after jumping well and with blinkers on for the first time POWER KOEPP raced keenly and as a result settled outside the lead.
Horse No 4 EASON (G061) M F Poon Bumped on jumping.
Near the 150 Metres was bumped by NORDIC DRAGON which shifted in and then raced tight to the inside of NORDIC DRAGON for some distance thereafter which restricted M F Poon's ability to use his whip for a number of strides.
Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.
Horse No 5 KYRUS DRAGON (H396) Z Purton Approaching the 200 Metres was steadied when disappointed for running between SUGAR SUGAR and GUSTOSISIMO (Y L Chung) which shifted in.
Y L Chung was advised that in similar circumstances he would be expected to stop riding and straighten his mounts.
KYRUS DRAGON was then shifted to the outside of GUSTOSISIMO after the 150 Metres to secure clear running.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 6 GUSTOSISIMO (J303) Y L Chung At declaration time, M Chadwick was declared as the rider of both POWER KOEPP and GUSTOSISIMO.
It was established that M Chadwick had a firm commitment to ride POWER KOEPP.
As such, the Stewards permitted Y L Chung to be substituted as the rider of GUSTOSISIMO.
For this declaration error, Trainer A S Cruz was fined $2,000.
Bumped on jumping.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 7 SWEET BRIAR (H044) L Hewitson Shifted out after the 350 Metres and was bumped.
Horse No 8 YOUNG ARROW (J401) K Teetan Near the 150 Metres was taken in slightly by EASON.
Horse No 9 ARMOUR EAGLE (G093) A Atzeni From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Held up on the Home Turn.
After the event, A Atzeni could offer no excuse for his mount's failure to run on in the Home Straight.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race which included an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of mucus in the horse's trachea.
Horse No 10 TALE OF PERTH (J469) B Thompson Bumped at the start.
Horse No 11 OUR LUCKY GLORY (G292) A Badel Bumped at the start.
Horse No 12 VIVA CHALEUR (G368) K De Melo After the 350 Metres was hampered when bumped by SWEET BRIAR which shifted out.
GENERAL:

After the running of Race 4, the track classification was officially changed from "Good" to "Good to Firm" This change in the opinion of the Stewards should be recorded as being retrospective.
As a consequence of this, the official results will show Race 4 being run on a track rated "Good to Firm"

13 October 2024 Sha Tin Racemeeting Race 7 (99) HAPPY TOGETHER - Confirmed on specialist advice to be displaying an irregular heart rhythm after the pre-race veterinary inspection.
As previously advised, HAPPY TOGETHER will be required to perform satisfactorily in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination before being allowed to race again.
Race 10 (102) WATCH BUDDY - Confirmed on specialist advice to be displaying an irregular heart rhythm after the pre-race veterinary inspection.

Favourite Kyrus Dragon just got up to blouse late-fancied Gustosisimo after switching off the tiring Sugar Sugar near the 100m marker to make it back-to-back wins following a success in June. He will remain in the grade and can win again. Gustosisimo handed up the lead, took the trail 800m out and just missed out. It was a solid effort at his first Valley run following a stable change. Eason ran on nicely after a wide trip without cover in midfield to finish a close third. It was his best run in a while and it looks like he is a well rated runner now. Our Lucky Glory came from last and widest out to just miss a placing. It was a bold effort from the rear and it looks like he is always a chance over the Valley 1,200m. Nordic Dragon ran on well with one wider out in the straight to finish a close fifth. It was another honest effort over the Valley 1,200m. Sweet Briar found a few just too good after a handy run along the inside. It wasn't a bad effort off a win last month in Class Four. Young Arrow ran on steadily without threatening after a midfield run. He appeared to need the outing.
