Recap by phillip woo

Spicy Gold showed a good turn of foot to take control 100m out after settling one off the rail and behind midfield for a third straight win. He was suited by the pace but continues his fine form following a switch to the Valley. Storming Dragon ran on nicely near the inside for second after making his run five back on the fence. He's a winner waiting to happen with placings in five of six starts. Beauty Destiny ran on well for third to spice up the tierce after settling one the rail in midfield. He was able to build on a pace-stalking sixth last month. New Power kept on well for fourth after a prominent run on the fence. He has given a decent sight in both starts this term. Dragon Air Force made a mild bid after settling one off the rail in midfield. He has shown flashes of ability in two of his three starts. Perfect General couldn't find much when asked for an effort after recovering from a slow start. He was a nice winner of his second career start last month. Top Scorer weakened in the straight after getting pressured for the lead to his outside by Greenwich.

Racing Incident Report

Race Five : (107) - SPEEDY HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1200Meters

Horse No 1 GREENWICH (H328) M F Poon Making the first turn was bumped on the hindquarters and became unbalanced.

When giving ground approaching the 100 Metres was steadied when crowded between NEW POWER and BEAUTY DESTINY.

After the event, M F Poon stated that with the early pace of the event being run inside standard time he was obliged to make use of his mount in the early stages to take up a position outside the lead.

He said as a consequence GREENWICH was left without a finishing effort in the Home Straight.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 2 PERFECT GENERAL (J417) H Bowman Jumped only fairly.

Near the 150 Metres shifted in slightly, resulting in its rider H Bowman having to stop riding and correct his mount.

When questioned, H Bowman stated that his mount jumped only fairly and then in the early stages he endeavoured to obtain a position with cover behind NEW POWER.

He said when PERFECT GENERAL commenced to race keenly, he was obliged to maintain his position to the outside of NEW POWER, however, PERFECT GENERAL over-raced through the early and middle stages and refused to settle.

He added as a consequence PERFECT GENERAL was unable to finish the race off strongly in the Home Straight.

Trainer C Fownes concurred with the views of Jockey Bowman that PERFECT GENERAL was disadvantaged by the manner in which it raced throughout the early and middle stages of the event.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 3 SPICY GOLD (H440) A Badel Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 4 STORMING DRAGON (J237) Z Purton After the event, Z Purton stated that his instructions were from a wide barrier to ride his mount in a midfield position with cover.

Trainer J Richards confirmed the instructions and said such instructions were issued on the basis that STORMING DRAGON had not been finishing its races off strongly when racing in an on-pace position.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 5 TOP SCORER (J120) B Avdulla Shifted in at the start and was bumped.

After the event, B Avdulla stated that his mount, which was having its first race start at Happy Valley, had difficulty making the turns and would derive benefit from tonight's experience.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
