Recap by phillip woo

After tracking the speed from gate 11, Prime Mortar hit the front 200m out and won going away for a third career win from six starts. He lived up to a nice trial on the dirt following a stable change. Well-backed Spicy Gold closed off nicely for second after finding the fence in midfield from gate nine. It was a career-best effort trying the Valley for the first time after showing flashes of ability. Lapras stayed on well for third after a prominent run on the fence. It was an improved effort following a stable change. Super Eagle kept on at one pace after a handy run. He rarely produces a bad run over the Valley 1,200m. Fairy Horse got going late with two wider out after making his run towards the rear from gate 10. He is still a work in progress. Hercules ran on without threatening. E Universe didn't have much to offer when push came to shove in the straight after jumping to the lead from gate seven. He couldn't back up a last-start win. Double Bingo had nothing left in the tank 100m out after chasing the leading pair one off the fence. He has failed to build on a rallying second on his debut.

Racing Incident Report

Race Eight : (673) - GARONNE HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1200Meters

Horse No 1 E UNIVERSE (H151) L Hewitson After the race, L Hewitson reported that his mount travelled well in the lead, however, came under pressure on entering the Home Straight and gave ground from that point.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

The performance of E UNIVERSE, a last start winner, was considered to be disappointing as compared to its previous race start.

Before being allowed to race again, E UNIVERSE will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

Horse No 2 DOUBLE BINGO (J309) L Ferraris After the race, L Ferraris reported that his instructions were to take up a handy position.

He said he was caught wide in the early stages when SUPER EAGLE held its position to his inside and as a result was obliged to make some use of his mount to cross that runner where it raced outside the lead in the early stages.

He added that DOUBLE BINGO raced greenly during the event and after being crossed by PRIME MORTAR near the 600 Metres came under pressure before weakening in the Home Straight.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 3 SIGHT SUPREME (J258) Z Purton After the race, Z Purton reported that his mount travelled well during the early and middle stages of the event and would derive benefit from tonight's race experience and potentially being stepped up in distance.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 4 PRIME MORTAR (G328) Y L Chung Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 5 MISTER FOX (J059) K De Melo From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

Horse No 8 LAPRAS (H374) K Teetan Jumped awkwardly.

Lay in when under pressure in the Home Straight.

Horse No 9 SPICY GOLD (H440) A Badel Bumped a rail on a number of occasions when entering the track, was examined by the Veterinary Officer on arrival at the Start and passed suitable to race.
