Recap by phillip woo
Whizz Kid kept finding after claiming the lead from post-time favourite Victor The Winner under the 600m for an upset win following a gear change to visors. He's an honest 1,000m horse but is usually better at the Valley. Early favourite Invincible Sage found one too good settling midfield near the far side. It was another good run in a higher grade after winning his first three starts this term. Packing Treadmill ran on nicely from last to snatch third after getting held up for a run until the 200m. It was another genuine performance despite a step back in distance. We Are Hero just missed a placing after making his run from midfield on the far side. He's gone much better on return to the straight 1,000m in his past two starts. Duke Wai kept on well to just miss the frame settling near the speed on the stands side. He rarely produces a bad run. First-up off a long break for his new trainer, Super Wealthy made some ground without threatening from behind midfield. Victor The Winner didn't find much when asked for more after leading or sharing the front for the opening 400m. The straight 1,000m experiment backfired.
