Recap by phillip woo

Whizz Kid kept finding after claiming the lead from post-time favourite Victor The Winner under the 600m for an upset win following a gear change to visors. He's an honest 1,000m horse but is usually better at the Valley. Early favourite Invincible Sage found one too good settling midfield near the far side. It was another good run in a higher grade after winning his first three starts this term. Packing Treadmill ran on nicely from last to snatch third after getting held up for a run until the 200m. It was another genuine performance despite a step back in distance. We Are Hero just missed a placing after making his run from midfield on the far side. He's gone much better on return to the straight 1,000m in his past two starts. Duke Wai kept on well to just miss the frame settling near the speed on the stands side. He rarely produces a bad run. First-up off a long break for his new trainer, Super Wealthy made some ground without threatening from behind midfield. Victor The Winner didn't find much when asked for more after leading or sharing the front for the opening 400m. The straight 1,000m experiment backfired.

Racing Incident Report

Race Seven : (321) - THE BAUHINIA SPRINT TROPHY (HANDICAP) - Class G3 - 1000Meters

Horse No 1 VICTOR THE WINNER (G404) H Bowman When questioned regarding the performance, H Bowman stated that with VICTOR THE WINNER dropping back in distance from the 1200 Metres to 1000 Metres, he was obliged to make some use of his mount to hold the lead in the early stages whereby VICTOR THE WINNER raced at its top for some distance thereafter.

He said as a consequence when asked for an effort over the final 400 Metres VICTOR THE WINNER responded only moderately to his riding and weakened from the 100 Metres.

He added that whilst VICTOR THE WINNER was carrying the top weight of 135 lbs, he felt that the tempo of the event was the principal reason for VICTOR THE WINNER not being able to sustain a finishing effort.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 3 DUKE WAI (C188) K Teetan Leaving the 800 Metres was steadied to avoid VICTOR THE WINNER which shifted in when not clear.

H Bowman was reprimanded.

A short distance later was again steadied and shifted in to avoid the heels of VICTOR THE WINNER.

Horse No 4 PACKING TREADMILL (G161) L Hewitson Near the 800 Metres was steadied away from VICTOR THE WINNER (H Bowman) which shifted in when not quite clear.

H Bowman was advised to exercise more care.

For some distance after the 800 Metres was buffeted for room between DUKE WAI (K Teetan) which shifted in after being crossed by VICTOR THE WINNER and FLYING ACE which raced tight to the outside of SEASONS WIT which in turn was positioned to the outside of WE ARE HERO when that runner was also tight to the outside of INVINCIBLE SAGE (A Badel).

Both K Teetan and A Badel were advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.

Horse No 6 SEASONS WIT (H223) M Chadwick Jumped awkwardly.

For some distance after the 800 Metres was bumped by FLYING ACE.

Horse No 7 FLYING ACE (G045) M F Poon For some distance after the 800 Metres became unbalanced when buffeted for room.
