Racing Incident Report
Race Seven: (709) - THE SAUTERNES CUP (HANDICAP) - Class 3 - 1200Meters
SMOKEY BEAR and POWER KOEPP bumped at the start.
Shortly after the start, ENDEARED and CHATEAU were checked when crowded between NAMJONG SINGS and YOU'REMYEVERYTHING which jumped awkwardly and shifted in abruptly before being corrected by its rider, Apprentice Y L Chung.
Also shortly after the start, OUR LUCKY GLORY raced tight to the inside of PARTY WARRIOR which lay in.
SMOKEY BEAR brushed the running rail after the 600 Metres.
Over the concluding stages, VICTORY SCHOLARS lay in and away from POWER KOEPP, resulting in SMOKEY BEAR being unable to be ridden out to the finish of the event when crowded between VICTORY SCHOLARS and OUR LUCKY GLORY.
FAMILY FOLKS raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.
After the race, Z Purton (PARTY WARRIOR) stated that his mount raced in a disappointing manner, but he could offer no explanation for the performance.
A veterinary inspection of PARTY WARRIOR immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Also after the race, the Veterinary Surgeon reported that VICTORY SCHOLARS was lame in its left front leg.
Before being allowed to race again, VICTORY SCHOLARS will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
PARTY WARRIOR, POWER KOEPP and VICTORY SCHOLARS were sent for sampling.

Power Koepp reeled in Victory Scholars 60m out after a prominent run on the fence for a second win over the Valley 1,200m from 15 starts this term. He's always a chance at this level. The well-backed Victory Scholars kept on gamely for second after dictating the run one off from gate five. He has been racing consistently well since joining the Caspar Fownes yard. Lucky Eight just failed to get up for second after a prominent run. It was another honest effort over the Valley 1,200m this season. Our Lucky Glory ran on steadily along the inside to finish fourth without threatening the top three from behind midfield. It was one of his better runs this term. Punted late, Smokey Bear grudgingly gave way after prompting the pace on the fence. It was an OK effort on return to a higher grade after a last-start win. Heroic Master peaked on his move 100m out following a wide trip from behind midfield. It was a typical effort. Favourite Party Warrior came up flat when asked for an effort following a one-off run from midfield. He disappointed after nearly getting up for a win last start.
