Racing Incident Report
Race Seven: (660) - THE HONG KONG MACAU TROPHY (HANDICAP) - Class 1 - 1400Meters
THE GOLDEN SCENERY was slow to begin.
BEAUTY ETERNAL was crowded on jumping between CIRCUIT STELLA and STAR OF YIU CHEUNG which shifted in.
OUT OF WIN jumped only fairly.
From the outside barriers, BELUGA and FANTASTIC TREASURE were shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Making the Home Turn, BELUGA improved into a narrow run between THE GOLDEN SAMURAI and NEARLY FINE and as a result made contact with NEARLY FINE which became unbalanced.
Passing the 400 Metres, BELUGA was then steadied when shifted to the outside of KEEFY to continue into clear running as KEEFY was giving ground quickly.
A veterinary inspection of KEEFY immediately following the race revealed that the horse was displaying an irregular heart rhythm.
Before being allowed to race again, KEEFY will be required to perform satisfactorily in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
THE IRISHMAN raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.
When questioned, Z Purton (BEAUTY ETERNAL) stated that in the early stages he was content to allow KEEFY to cross his mount as his intention was to endeavour to obtain clear running to the outside in the Home Straight.
He added after allowing KEEFY to cross his mount near the 1000 Metres, he then was positioned to the inside of TURIN REDSUN throughout the middle stages.
He said from the 600 Metres BEAUTY ETERNAL found it difficult to quicken on today's track conditions, particularly when racing tight between TURIN REDSUN and CHEERFUL DAYS and as a result lost the position behind KEEFY for a short distance thereafter.
He further stated that in the Home Straight BEAUTY ETERNAL responded reasonably well to his riding albeit it was not entirely comfortable on today's track conditions.
A veterinary inspection of BEAUTY ETERNAL immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
RED LION and BEAUTY ETERNAL were sent for sampling.

Heavily-backed Red Lion won going away 120m out after pressing forward to chase the speed 850m out three wide without cover at times carrying a light weight. He's now won three of his past four starts and there's clearly more to come from him. Odds-on favourite Beauty Eternal got going late to grab second after fading back to straighten behind midfield. It was another good effort on yielding ground for the first time and he appears to want a further trip. Punted late Circuit Stellar was on his tippy toes late after opening up by three lengths upon straightening at the head of the field. He's very honest. The Irishman ran on steadily for fourth after a handy run wide with cover. It was a better effort carrying nine pounds less with a rise in class. Fantastic Treasure came from near last to pick up a minor cheque. He went okay but appears to want a faster strip. Beluga came from last at the head of the straight to finish next best. He hasn't been able to match up in his past two starts. Macau invader Out To Win made some ground without ever looking a threat from towards the rear.
