Chancheng Prince went on with it to lead 1,150m out instead of getting caught deep on the speed, turned a length on top and kept on gamely for a sixth career win and a third over this surface and trip. He was able to build on a runner-up effort earlier this month but will need to lift on his past form in Class Two. Plunged late, Viva Hunter just got the better of True Legend for second after chasing the speed in third. He didn't mind a move to the dirt after showing steady progress in his opening two runs this season at the Valley. Fancied late in betting, True Legend kept on well for a placing after getting headed for the lead. The move to a 10-pound claimer helped. Royal Bomb stayed on well for fourth after a one-off run better than midfield. It was a pleasing first run on the surface. Favourite Handsome Twelve ran on but never looked likely travelling one off behind midfield. He couldn't back up a win last start carrying a few pounds more. Amazing Teens gradually faded after a prominent run. He's crying out for 1,800m. Lucky Fun held his ground in midfield with a step up to a mile. He's still to come around.

Racing Incident Report

Race Nine: (129) - YEUNG UK HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1650Meters

Whilst in the saddling stalls, VIVA HUNTER had its right front plate refitted.

VIVA HUNTER was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion it was suitable to race.

ROYAL BOMB lost its left front plate shortly after the start.

From wide barriers, PRIME MINISTER, DR WINNING and LIGHTNING BOLT were all shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

After entering the Back Straight, LUCKY FUN shifted in abruptly despite the efforts of its rider, resulting in ULTRA EXPRESS being crowded for room and HANDSOME TWELVE, which was following ULTRA EXPRESS, being hampered.

In the Straight, HANDSOME TWELVE lay in under pressure and then approaching and passing the 100 Metres raced tight outside ROYAL BOMB which shifted out under pressure.

After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that HANDSOME TWELVE was mildly lame in the left front leg.

Before being allowed to race again, HANDSOME TWELVE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

A veterinary inspection of LIGHTNING BOLT immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

HANDSOME TWELVE, CHANCHENG PRINCE and VIVA HUNTER were sent for sampling.
