Race Nine: (796) - SPORTSMANSHIP 1600M HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1600Meters
LEADING FORTUNE lifted its front feet off the ground as the start was effected and lost ground.
TEMPEST EXPRESS and MASSIVE ACTION bumped on jumping.
KASA PAPA was steadied in the early stages to obtain cover.
Also from a wide barrier, S J TOURBILLON was steadied and shifted across behind runners.
Approaching the 1100 Metres, NEARLY FINE was crowded for room between LOOKING COOL and COMPASSION SPIRIT (M L Yeung) which shifted in.
M L Yeung was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.
Throughout the race, COMET SPLENDIDO and COMPASSION SPIRIT travelled wide and without cover.
After the race, L Hewitson reported that SUPER WINNER never travelled comfortably at any stage of today's race.
A veterinary inspection of SUPER WINNER immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

TUCHEL, LEADING FORTUNE and MR ASCENDENCY were sent for sampling.

Leading Fortune produced a perfectly-timed run down the outside to just deny Mr Ascendency after making his run one from the rear following a slow start for a fourth win this season. He relished the wet ground after misfiring in three prior starts. Mr Ascendency lost a heartbreaker after working to the lead 200m out after a wide trip towards the rear. It was another fine run carrying top weight and he's clearly a winner waiting to happen. Firming favourite Tuchel kept on reasonably well for third after a handy run along the fence. He was up in grade striking a wet track after winning two of four starts. S J Tourbillon came from last to fill the frame. He mixes his form but it was a positive performance following a stable change. Newcomer Comet Splendido kept on all right after chasing the speed wide without cover from gate 11. It was a pleasing run on debut. Looking Cool ran on without menacing after a wide with cover trip behind midfield. He didn't seem to enjoy the wet conditions. Compassion Spirit kept on evenly after a wide without cover trip in midfield. Prefer him in Class Four. Massive Action knocked up 150m out after getting his own way in front. He doesn't get the mile trip.
