Racing Incident Report
Race Three: (512) - HELENE MASCOT HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1600Meters
BRIGHT KID was slow to begin.
AMAZING TEENS began very awkwardly.
JOYFUL HEART was inconvenienced on jumping by BEAUTY SPIRIT which shifted in.
From wide barriers, NICHOLSON RETURNS and SUNNY DELIGHT were steadied in the early stages to obtain cover.
Passing the 800 Metres, NICHOLSON RETURNS was awkwardly placed close to the heels of JOYFUL HEART.
Approaching the 700 Metres, STRATHMORETOO was taken out to a position three wide and without cover by STAR CONTACT which shifted out from behind EMBARKED.
Passing the 500 Metres, CORDYCEPS TWO and AMAZING TEENS raced tight.
At the entrance to the Straight, STRATHMORETOO raced tight between TOYCOON and AMAZING TEENS which improved to the outside of the heels of STAR CONTACT.
Passing the 350 Metres, CITY LEGEND became unbalanced after being bumped by SUNNY DELIGHT which shifted out when held up for clear running.
CITY LEGEND was then checked when crowded for room between BEAUTY SPIRIT and STRATHMORETOO (L Hewitson) which, when commencing to give ground, shifted out abruptly.
NICHOLSON RETURNS, which was following CITY LEGEND, was shifted out away from the heels of that horse.
In this incident, SUNNY DELIGHT was shifted in after being checked away from the heels of STRATHMORETOO.
As the Stewards were of the opinion that L Hewitson had reacted to the abrupt shift of STRATHMORETOO in a timely manner, no further action was taken.
Passing the 50 Metres, AMAZING TEENS was shifted out away from the heels of SUNNY DELIGHT as that horse shifted out.
A veterinary inspection of EMBARKED, STRATHMORETOO and VUKAN immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
STAR CONTACT, TOYCOON and BEAUTY SPIRIT were sent for sampling.

Well-backed Toycoon kept on gamely after hitting the front 250m out giving a lovely ride one-off in midfield from a wide gate for a maiden win at his 26th start. The win was forthcoming after filling the frame in six of seven other starts this term. Beauty Spirit ran on well after settling just off the fence behind midfield to finish a close second. He tends to mix his form but was an earlier winner over this trip. Cordyceps Two stayed on well for a placing after a handy run along the fence. His run was not a surprise after a win two runs back. Thumped late in betting Sunny Delight made heaps of ground near the inside from well back to fill the frame. He can produce an odd good run now and then. Old-timer Great Treasure made some ground late near the inside without menacing after settling fifth last. Favourite Star Contact had no more to offer 100m out after cruising to the front 400m out tracking the leader Embarked. It was a disappointing performance after making a good impression in his first three starts. City Legend produced a grinding effort after getting impeded between runners near the 200m travelling behind midfield. Plunged late Nicolson Returns ran on without threatening from towards the rear.
