Race Seven: (469) - GILLIES HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1650Meters
PACKING FAMOUS began awkwardly and then bumped NEARLY FINE which shifted out.
YOUNG VICTORY began awkwardly and then became unbalanced when bumped on the hindquarters by VIVA POPCORN which was crowded for room outside RAINBOW LIGHT which shifted out.
After this, from wide barriers, RAINBOW LIGHT and VIVA POPCORN were shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
SHINY ONE began only fairly.
After the 1600 Metres, PACKING FAMOUS was awkwardly placed outside the heels of NEARLY FINE when being steadied to obtain cover.
Approaching the 900 Metres, CHATER PINS, which was travelling keenly, got its head up when being checked away from the heels of NEARLY FINE as the pace of the race slackened.
CHATER PINS then shifted in abruptly away from the heels of NEARLY FINE and in doing so inconvenienced MURRAY'S PARTNERS.
PACKING FAMOUS, which was following CHATER PINS, was inconvenienced in consequence.
Passing the 800 Metres, VIVA POPCORN was shifted out to improve its position.
After this, VIVA POPCORN travelled wide and without cover.
At the 300 Metres, PACKING FAMOUS was bumped by NEARLY FINE which, when improving to the outside of FARSHAD, was taken out by that horse.
After the 100 Metres, NEARLY FINE shifted out and brushed PACKING FAMOUS.
A veterinary inspection of RAINBOW LIGHT and YOUNG VICTORY immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
HAPPY JAI JAI and WIN CHARM were sent for sampling.

Favourite Happy Jai Jai took control 150m out after tracking a slow pace in the box-seat for a third straight win over this Valley trip despite a return to Class Four. He's in the form of his life and can win again. Rank outsider Win Charm gave a cheeky sight after clearing to the front 1,450m out from gate 12 to clearly hold down second. It was his best run to date with a switch to the Valley 1,650m at his fourth start. Chater Pins came from behind midfield to fill a placing. He's mixing his form after a no-excuse defeat last start. Ever Laugh just failed to get up for a placing after a rails run in midfield. He's always a chance over this Valley trip. Nearly Fine just missed the frame after a one-off trip in midfield. He requires a stronger rider. Packing Famous ran on steadily without menacing after a patient ride three from the rear. He didn't get a race run to suit and might want a 1,800m trip. Viva Popcorn peaked on his run 100m out after whipping around the field at the 750m to get to second 500m out. He had an excuse. Farshad faded after positioning nicely one-out, one-back behind the dawdling pace. It was a disappointing performance despite a downgrade. Rainbow Light couldn't get ridden for luck from a tricky gate. The slow pace cost him.
