Racing Incident Report
Race Seven: (304) - POPLAR HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1600Meters
LOYAL AMBITION began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped the hindquarters of TELECOM ROCKET.
TELECOM ROCKET was then bumped by LEADING FORTUNE which shifted in after being bumped by CITY LEGEND.
After this, CITY LEGEND was steadied to obtain cover.
NIMBLE NIMBUS shifted in at the start and bumped TURQUOISE ALPHA.
From wide barriers, FLYING MIGHTY and DECISIVE ACTION were shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
After the 1100 Metres, CIRCUIT SPIRITANTO was left racing wide and without cover.
Approaching the 600 Metres, DECISIVE ACTION and TURQUOISE ALPHA raced tight as TURQUOISE ALPHA improved into tight running outside LOYAL AM Approaching the 200 Metres, LEADING FORTUNE was shifted out a number of horses to obtain clear running.
B Shinn (TURQUOISE ALPHA) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that passing the 200 Metres he permitted his mount to shift out when not clear of DECISIVE ACTION, resulting in that horse having to be checked away from the heels of TURQUOISE ALPHA and losing the running to which it was rightfully entitled.
B Shinn was suspended from riding in races for a period to commence on Saturday, 12 February 2022 and to expire on Thursday, 17 February 2022 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays).
In addition, Jockey Shinn was fined $60,000.
When DECISIVE ACTION was checked, CITY LEGEND, which was following that horse, was hampered in consequence.
NIMBLE NIMBUS and LEADING FORTUNE were sent for sampling.

Early favourite Nimble Nimbus held on gamely for the win after moving to the front 250m out chasing the leader Jade Phoenix one off the fence. The step up to a mile worked the oracle after filling the frame in his past three starts. Post-time favourite Leading Fortune finished well to grab second after working into the open 200m out following a four-back run along the fence. He's close to a win. Turquoise Alpha ran on nicely near the outside to finish a close third after a patient ride fourth from the rear. Noble Steed came to win the race 150m out but peaked on his run 50m out after a wide with cover run behind midfield. The old-timer is better suited over the 1,400m nowadays. Eevee stayed on all right after a rails run in midfield. It's still early days for him but he's shown flashes of ability in his four starts. Flying Mighty made a good deal of ground late from the rear of the field and widest out. It was an improved effort following a gear change.
