Recap by phillip woo
Favourite Fa Fa just held off the late-fancied Beluga after hitting the front 80m out following a one-off run better than midfield to ring up a sixth win and fifth straight from his past seven starts despite a rise in class and distance. He'll remain in the grade and can win again. Punted late, Beluga ran on well three from the right to make it close on the wire after a one-off trip in midfield. He's a winner waiting to happen after placing in his past three starts at both tracks. Savvy Nine just got up for third after saving ground in midfield. He doesn't know how to run a bad race over this Valley trip, but the big weight was the difference in the end. Zebrowski stayed on very well to just miss a placing despite getting caught wide without cover better than midfield the entire trip from an awkward gate. Solar Wai Wai wouldn't go down without a fight after assuming the lead from Telecom Fighters 300m out following a pace-stalking run. The mile suits him better. Sunshine Warrior ran on reasonably well after a travelling two deep behind midfield. It was another honest effort over this course. Sunny Star peaked on his run 100m out after looming a chance along the inside 200m out following a four-back run on the fence.
