Racing Incident Report
Race Seven: (552) - ROBIN HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1200Meters
On arrival at the Start, Z Purton informed the Veterinary Officer that SUNNY DELIGHT had coughed behind the barriers.
The Veterinary Officer reported that after the necessary consultations SUNNY DELIGHT was suitable to race.
Also on arrival at the Start, K Teetan expressed concern regarding the action of FLYING ON THE TURF.
FLYING ON THE TURF was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said the horse was lame in the right front leg and as such was not suitable to race.
Acting on this advice, FLYING ON THE TURF was withdrawn by order of the Stewards.
Before being allowed to race again, FLYING ON THE TURF will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
VIVA CHEF shifted out at the start and bumped GOLD COMET which became unbalanced, shifted out and brushed SPLIT OF A SECOND.
FORTUNE HAPPINESS began awkwardly and bumped the outside of its gate, resulting in the horse losing ground.
SUNNY DELIGHT was crowded for room on jumping between EVERYONE'S VICTORY and MIGHTY POWER, both of which shifted ground.
HERO TIME began only fairly and then from a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
MAGIC SUPREME began awkwardly.
Approaching the 700 Metres, MIGHTY POWER got its head on the side and lay in.
When changing his whip from his left hand in to his right hand passing the 300 Metres, Apprentice C L Chau (MIGHTY POWER) dropped his whip.
A veterinary inspection of HERO TIME immediately following the race found that horse to be displaying an irregular heart rhythm and an endoscopic examination also showed a substantial amount of blood in its trachea.
Before being allowed to race again, HERO TIME will be required to perform satisfactorily in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
A veterinary inspection of FORTUNE HAPPINESS, VIVA CHEF and SPLIT OF A SECOND immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
A veterinary inspection of MIGHTY POWER immediately following the race found that horse to be lame in its right front leg.

SUPER ALLIANCES, MAGIC SUPREME and GOLD COMET were sent for sampling.

Magic Supreme took control 150m out for a comfortable win after settling one off just behind the leaders. The writing was on the wall following a switch to the dirt last start. Gold Comet ran on well from behind midfield to easily overhaul Just Not Listening for second. He had disappointed twice after a good second over this course and distance in November but the move to blinkers appeared to help. Just Not Listening kept on gamely for a placing after working very hard vying for the lead from a wide gate with Everyone's Victory. He was well rated with a return to his favourite surface. Sunny Delight ran on well from towards the rear to get the head down late for fourth. It was a solid performance on debut. Favourite Super Alliances ran on to just miss a quartet spot after biding his time third from the rear. The big weight took its toll despite a return to Class Four. Viva Chef came up one-paced following a handy run. He's better on the turf. Everyone's Victory was retreating 150m out after sharing the lead along the fence in his initial run on the dirt. He's still learning the ropes.
