Recap by phillip woo
Golden Sixty got up in the nick of time to deny Southern Legend after settling deep near the back. He was able to defy a slow pace to ring up a 12th straight win. Plunged late, Southern Legend gave the champ a run for his money after a box-seat run. He's as honest as the day is long. Ka Ying Star ended third after getting a soft lead in front. He's a shade below the best over this trip. Waikuku ran on late to fill the frame after making his run one from the back. It was a pleasing effort in a race run to suit the those up front. Rise High ran on without menacing from the rear of the field. It was a good return to the races after an injury-induced absence and he prefers a longer trip. More Than This came up flat following a handy run. Like the latter, he was in need of the run following an injury issue.
