Favourite Super Axiom lived up to his trials with an easy win after firing across to comfortably lead on the stands side from a low draw on debut here. He clearly has an engine underneath him and the future is bright. Amazing Rocky stuck on well for second after chasing the leader on the grandstand side from a wide gate. He relished a return to the straight 1,000m after a second-up failure at the Valley. Romantic Trove stayed on well to place at a price after making his run midfield on the far side. It was an improved effort. Goko ran on steadily to finish a non-threatening fourth after travelling towards the rear early on. He's always a chance over this Sha Tin trip. All The Way stayed on without menacing travelling behind midfield on the outside fence. He's not genuine. Ice Legend ran on all right after sharply switching inside 150m out for a clear run following a patient ride behind midfield near the far side. It was a pleasing debut effort.

Racing Incident Report

Race One: (221) - CHEVALIER ALUMINIUM ENGINEERING HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1000Meters

ICE LEGEND began very awkwardly and lost ground.

CHAMPION PRICE began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped VALIANT ELEGANCE.

MULTIMORE shifted out at the start and hampered LUCKY FUN which lost ground.

GOKO and PRECIOUS SWEETIE bumped heavily at the start, resulting in both horses becoming badly unbalanced.

In this incident, GOKO shifted in and bumped the hindquarters of LUCKY RUBY, causing GOKO to become further unbalanced.

After this, despite being vigorously ridden, GOKO failed to muster speed.

After the 900 Metres, ALL THE WAY, PRECIOUS SWEETIE and GOKO were crowded for room between AMAZING ROCKY which shifted in marginally and LUCKY RUBY (Apprentice K H Chan) which shifted out away from RHAPSODY.

Apprentice Chan was reprimanded and told that in similar circumstances he would be expected to make more endeavour than he did on this occasion to prevent his mount from shifting ground.

Passing the 700 Metres, AMAZING ROCKY was shifted out away from the heels of SUPER AXIOM (C Schofield) which shifted out.

C Schofield was reprimanded and told to exercise more care.

Passing the 650 Metres, LUCKY RUBY momentarily raced in restricted room between RHAPSODY and AMAZING ROCKY which shifted in.

The Stewards opened an inquiry into the reason for LUCKY FUN stumbling near the 450 Metres and dislodging its rider, M Chadwick.

After taking evidence from B Shinn (CHAMPION PRIDE) and V Borges (MULTIMORE), the Stewards adjourned the inquiry until evidence can be taken from M Chadwick who was transported to hospital.

ICE LEGEND, which was following LUCKY FUN, was severely checked in consequence.

At this time it is not anticipated that further evidence will be required from either B Shinn or V Borges.

Approaching the 200 Metres, ALL THE WAY raced tight outside PRECIOUS SWEETIE.

Approaching the 150 Metres, ICE LEGEND was checked away from the heels of VALIANT ELEGANCE when being shifted out abruptly as a result of being crowded for room outside the riderless LUCKY FUN.

After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that PRECIOUS SWEETIE had bled from both nostrils.

A veterinary inspection of RHAPSODY immediately following the race revealed that the horse was displaying an irregular heart rhythm.

Before being allowed to race again, RHAPSODY will be required to perform satisfactorily in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

A veterinary inspection of VALIANT ELEGANCE immediately following the race found that horse to be a "roarer??which had previously been reported.

SUPER AXIOM and AMAZING ROCKY were sent for sampling.
