Racing Incident Report
Race Four: (161) - TIN HA SHAN HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1200Meters
After being loaded into the barriers, SO HAPPY became fractious, reared and momentarily sat down, resulting in its rider, H W Lai being dislodged.
SO HAPPY was removed from the barriers, examined by the Veterinary Officer and passed fit to race.
APOLAR WARRIOR was slow to begin.
Shortly after the start, SO HAPPY shifted in and bumped COBY OPPA.
After the 1100 Metres, SO HAPPY was momentarily awkwardly placed inside the heels of STAR SUPERIOR which shifted in away from WAYFOONG CHARMER.
After this, STAR SUPERIOR continued to race with its head on the side and lay in away from WAYFOONG CHARMER.
In the early stages, APOLAR WARRIOR raced greenly and then made the turn near the 700 Metres awkwardly and ran wide.
After this, APOLAR WARRIOR continued to race greenly and travelled wide and without cover.
Approaching the 900 Metres, COBY OPPA became unbalanced.
After the 800 Metres, COBY OPPA lay in when awkwardly placed close to the heels of SO HAPPY.
At the entrance to the Straight, WAYFOONG CHARMER was brushed by STAR WARRIOR which shifted to the outside of HANDSOME REBEL.
Then near the 150 Metres, STAR SUPERIOR shifted out and made contact with WAYFOONG CHARMER, causing both horses to become unbalanced.
A veterinary inspection of SO HAPPY immediately following the race revealed that the horse was displaying an irregular heart rhythm.
Before being allowed to race again, SO HAPPY will be required to perform satisfactorily in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
GUNNAR and GOLD COMET were sent for sampling.

Favourite Gunnar won as he wished after getting his own way in front from a wide gate. He proved his worth on this surface with seconds three times last term and relished the lighter weight under 10-pound claimer Jerry Chau Chun-lok. Gold Comet ran on well to grab second 20m out after a patient ride fifth from the rear. It was a better run second-up with a move to cheek pieces. Well backed late, Hey Pal just held off Dollar Reward after making his run one-off in second. It was a vastly improved run at his third start with a switch to the dirt and addition of blinkers. Dollar Reward just failed to place after making his run better than midfield on the fence. It was another honest effort without menacing the winner. Handsome Rebel came up one-paced after travelling one-out, one-back from a wide gate. Wayfoong Charmer came up one-paced settling one-off the fence fore of midfield after halving his quote at the jump. He needed the run.
