Building up to a dual-pronged assault on the Longines Hong Kong International Races (HKIR), Frankie Lor Fu-chuen has high hopes Horsepower can extend his winning streak when he steps out at Happy Valley on Wednesday night.
The veteran handler has Lucky With You set for the Group One Hong Kong Sprint (1,200m) and Happy Together bound for the Group One Hong Kong Mile at Sha Tin’s marquee meeting on December 8.
But his immediate aim is another victory with Horsepower, who chases a fourth consecutive triumph in the Class Three Loch Lomond Handicap (1,000m).
A dominant Echuca and Geelong winner at his last two Australian starts when racing as Fire Follower, the Harry Angel gelding made a perfect start to his Hong Kong career with an impressive win at the city circuit.
Despite racing greenly in the straight under champion jockey Zac Purton, Horsepower rattled home from just behind midfield to narrowly beat Allgreektome over 1,000m.

“I think he’s improved after his last run,” Lor said. “This horse is a bit strong in the mornings, but after the race, he was a little bit better.
“That’s why 1,000m at Happy Valley should suit him – the pace should be fast. If he runs well again, maybe he’ll go up in class.”
Raced by Jockey Club chairman Michael Lee Tze-hau and his wife Vanessa, Horsepower must overcome a wide draw in barrier 11 and an eight-pound rise on his last-start victory.
He reopposes eight rivals that he accounted for on October 27, with Allgreektome the beneficiary of a five-pound swing from that clash.
Lor’s Valley team of five features another last-start winner in Beauty Destiny, who tackles the third section of the Class Four Edinburgh Handicap (1,200m).
The Star Turn gelding registered his second career success – both at the course and distance of Wednesday night’s race – when he stormed home from near last to overhaul Storming Dragon late.
Storming Dragon boosted the form with a breakthrough win last week.
“If he can relax in the early stages, he can have a strong finish,” Lor said.
“Last time he took a sit, [Andrea Atzeni] just waited and he had that strong finish. If he can do the same, he’ll be hard to beat.”
Beauty Destiny will carry top weight of 134 pounds on Wednesday night. He jumps from gate nine with Atzeni again on board.
Looking ahead to his HKIR representation, Lor is under no illusions about the task Lucky With You and Happy Together will face in their respective Group One assignments.
However, Lor is no stranger to success on the city’s biggest race day after winning the Group One Hong Kong Cup (2,000m) with Glorious Forever and the Sprint with Mr Stunning in 2018.
“They’re both going well,” Lor said of Lucky With You and Happy Together.
“Happy Together has had just one start this season and he still ran well. Lucky With You needs a firm track. It’s been raining before the race in a few of his recent runs. They’re both healthy and anything can happen.”

Lor confirmed Atzeni and Alexis Badel will retain the rides on Lucky With You and Happy Together, respectively.
Lucky With You will be out to go one better than last year when he ran second to Lucky Sweynesse in the Sprint.
Happy Together, who missed his scheduled first-up run in the Group Two Sha Tin Trophy (1,600m) with a heart abnormality, ran an encouraging fourth behind Voyage Bubble in the Group Two Jockey Club Mile on November 17.
