Recap by phillip woo

Tashidelek sat outside the leader Red Elysees, worked to the front near the 150m and kept up a strong gallop to make it back-to-back wins this season for trainer Douglas Whyte. Plunged late Red Elysees wouldn't go down without a fight after getting away with easy fractions in front. He's honest and had a light weight to offset a rise in class. Clement Legend just failed to get up for second after a one-out, one-back run. He made use of a good gate and does go well fresh. Late-fancied favourite Namjong Plus ran on late near the inside from towards the rear to finish a non-threatening fourth. The pattern played against him. Xiang Bai Qi had his chance following a one-off run in midfield. He rarely produces a bad run but is limited. Stimulation ran on very well without menacing. He needs a faster pace. Delightful Laos only plodded when push came to shove following a run on the rails in midfield. The rise in trip carrying top weight was too much.

Racing Incident Report

Race Seven: (109) - MOUNT DAVIS HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1800Meters

TANGMERE was crowded for room on jumping between XANTHUS and TASHIDELEK, both of which shifted ground.

From wide barriers, ABOVE, TANGMERE and NAMJONG PLUS were all shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

Approaching the winning post on the first occasion, TANGMERE was crowded for room between STIMULATION which shifted out away from the heels of FLASH FAMOUS and NAMJONG PLUS which got its head on the side and shifted in when awkwardly placed close to the heels of ABOVE.

This resulted in TANGMERE being awkwardly placed behind STIMULATION and passing the winning post on the first occasion being shifted to the inside of that horse.

Despite being ridden along in the early stages, FLASH FAMOUS failed to muster speed and approaching the 1700 Metres was steadied to obtain cover.

Near the 1300 Metres, XANTHUS was left racing wide and without cover.

After the 1000 Metres, FLASH FAMOUS was awkwardly placed behind DELIGHTFUL LAOS.

Passing the 500 Metres, CLEMENT LEGEND became unbalanced when momentarily crowded between WEALTHY DELIGHT and XANTHUS.

Rounding the Home Turn, STIMULATION was awkwardly placed behind XANTHUS which was giving ground.

Close to the finishing line, CLEMENT LEGEND shifted in towards the heels of TASHIDELEK, requiring its rider to straighten his mount.

After the race, K Teetan (DELIGHTFUL LAOS) stated that after beginning only fairly, he rode his mount along in the early stages to obtain as forward a position as possible, however, DELIGHTFUL LAOS settled in a midfield position.

He said after travelling only fairly in the middle stages, DELIGHTFUL LAOS was one-paced after the 600 Metres.

He said although his mount momentarily raced tight inside WEALTHY DELIGHT passing the 200 Metres, DELIGHTFUL LAOS was finishing off the race only fairly at that time.

He added whilst DELIGHTFUL LAOS had been successful at Happy Valley previously, he believed that the horse may be better suited on the bigger Sha Tin track and conveyed this advice to connections.

A veterinary inspection of DELIGHTFUL LAOS immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Also after the race, M Chadwick stated that after being able to obtain a good position in the early stages trailing the leader, WEALTHY DELIGHT was not able to quicken when the pace of the race increased near the 500 Metres.

He said WEALTHY DELIGHT came under heavy pressure and then was disappointing in its failure to finish off the race.

A veterinary inspection of WEALTHY DELIGHT immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

A veterinary inspection of TANGMERE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

NAMJONG PLUS, TASHIDELEK and RED ELYSEES were sent for sampling.
