Racing Incident Report
Race Ten: (84) - CHEK LAP KOK HANDICAP - Class 2 - 1800Meters
After briefly parading, SAVVY NINE had its right hind plate refitted.
On arrival at the Start, SAVVY NINE was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion it was suitable to race.
On entering the track, GOLDEN SPECTRUM lost its left front plate.
This plate was refitted on arrival at the Start.
GOLDEN SPECTRUM was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion it was suitable to race.
As the start was effected, ENRICHMENT became fractious and lunged at the front gate, resulting in the horse being slow to begin.
TIANCHI MONSTER shifted out at the start and bumped SAVVY NINE.
BUTTERFIELD began only fairly and then was bumped by NORTHERN SUPERSTAR which shifted out.
After this, despite being ridden along, BUTTERFIELD failed to muster speed.
From wide barriers, HELENE LEADINGSTAR and HO HO KHAN were shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
After initially being shifted across behind runners from a wide barrier, GLORIOUS ARTIST was left racing wide and without cover approaching the 1400 Metres and was consequently allowed to improve its position to race outside the lead after the 1100 Metres at which stage ARROGANT was left racing wide and without cover.
Approaching and passing the 1400 Metres, AMAZING BEATS was awkwardly placed behind RELIABLE TEAM.
Approaching the 1300 Metres, RIGHTEOUS DOCTRINE commenced to prove difficult to settle and shifted out away from the heels of SAVVY NINE, resulting in GOLDEN SPECTRUM being hampered.
Near the 1150 Metres, RELIABLE TEAM was steadied away from the heels of NORTHERN SUPERSTAR (Apprentice C Wong) which shifted in when not fully clear.
Apprentice Wong was reprimanded.
After this, RELIABLE TEAM remained awkwardly placed close to the heels of NORTHERN SUPERSTAR.
Passing the 1100 Metres, AMAZING BEATS was steadied away from the heels of GLORIOUS ARTIST.
Passing the 800 Metres, RIGHTEOUS DOCTRINE got its head on the side and shifted out towards the heels of BUTTERFIELD after momentarily racing tight between that horse and HELENE LEADINGSTAR.
M Chadwick (RIGHTEOUS DOCTRINE) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that passing the 300 Metres he directed his mount inwards when not clear of ENRICHMENT, causing that horse to be checked and to lose the running to which it was rightfully entitled.
M Chadwick was suspended from riding in races for a period to commence on Sunday, 8 November 2020 and to expire on Thursday, 12 November 2020 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays).
In addition, Jockey Chadwick was fined $17,500.
Passing the 100 Metres, HO HO KHAN, which was finishing off the race, was shifted out away from the heels of GLORIOUS ARTIST which shifted out under pressure.
A veterinary inspection of ENRICHMENT immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
EXCELLENT PROPOSAL and TIANCHI MONSTER were sent for sampling.

Odds-on favourite Excellent Proposal did enough to get the better of Tianchi Monster near the 100m following a midfield run despite a step up to the 1,800m to remain unbeaten in three starts. Well-backed Tianchi Monster found one too good after surging to a narrow lead approaching the 200m following a rail run better than midfield. Righteous Doctrine just out-dashed Savvy Nine for third after ducking inside for a clear run near the 200m travelling third last following a tardy start. He was able to build on an unlucky fifth last month. Savvy Nine ran on steadily from behind midfield to nearly place. He requires a faster tempo. Amazing Beats just held his ground following a prominent run. It was a better effort second-up with a return to the course-and-distance of a win last season. Helene Leadingstar ran on late near the inside without menacing. It was a positive return to the races carrying top weight on the back of a muddling pace.
