Racing Incident Report
Race Six: (16) - FORTRESS HILL HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1650Meters
After being loaded into the barriers, FLYING SWORD lunged at the front gates, resulting in the gates opening but with FLYING SWORD remaining in the barriers.
FLYING SWORD was removed from the barriers and examined by the Veterinary Officer who said that the horse was suitable to race.
After FLYING SWORD broke open the front gates, URBAN DANCER reared abruptly and then got down in the barriers before turning around and climbing out over the back gates.
Acting on the Veterinary Officer's report that URBAN DANCER was not suitable to race, the horse was withdrawn by order of the Stewards.
Before being allowed to race again, FLYING SWORD will be required to perform satisfactorily in a stalls test whilst URBAN DANCER will be required to perform satisfactorily in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
NAMJONG PLUS and XANTHUS were crowded for room on jumping between FLYING SWORD which shifted out and SURREALISM which began awkwardly and shifted in.
FUN LEGEND was slow to begin.
From the outside barriers, BEST ALLIANCE and TOYCOON were shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Near the 800 Metres, NAMJONG PLUS was steadied away from the heels of XANTHUS.
BEST ALLIANCE travelled wide and without cover from near the 900 Metres.
Passing the 150 Metres, TOYCOON was directed to the inside of DIVINE UNICORN after being disappointed for running between that horse and NAMJONG PLUS.
After the 150 Metres, BEST ALLIANCE was awkwardly placed behind LIGHTNING STEED when being directed to the outside of that horse.
LIGHTNING STEED, ALPHA HEDGE and FLYING SWORD were sent for sampling.

Alpha Hedge responded well to draw clear after a well-rated run in front by Zac Purton. He continues to add to his fine form from last season but might find things harder in Class Two next time out. Flying Sword ran on steadily to just edge Reel Bizzy for second following a prominent run. He's done little wrong since joining the Tony Cruz stable late last season. Reel Bizzy kept on gamely after chasing the speed on the fence. He's found his niche over the Valley 1,650m. Firming favourite Lightning Steed gradually faded after a breeze-punching run outside the leader. It wasn't a bad effort but he was resuming off a career high in the handicaps after some solid late-season form. Namjong Plus closed late down the outside after a patient ride near the rear. It was a good effort in a race run to suit the leaders and he's better suited over a longer trip. Best Alliance's move from beyond midfield approaching the 600m ended rounding the final bend.
