Favourite Golden Spectrum kept on gamely for the win after taking off from behind midfield at the 500m to hit the front 300m out. He had put the writing on the wall in his past two starts and might remain competitive next season up in grade off a light weight over this trip and even 2,000m. Lightning Steed closed well to finish a clear-cut second after making his run behind midfield underneath the eventual winner. It was another solid performance up in class and distance off a light weight after back-to-back wins. Tashidelek stayed on well for a placing after a one-out, one-back run from a wide gate. The sudden sit and sprint at the 500m played against him. Toycoon ran huge to get up for fourth after badly missing the kick. He seems to have found his niche at the Valley in his past two starts. Blastoise ran on without menacing after a midfield run. He'll be enjoying his break after a long but successful campaign. Brave King came up one-paced.

Racing Incident Report

Race Nine: (808) - CONDUIT HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1800Meters

As the start was effected, TOYCOON became fractious and lifted its front feet off the ground, resulting in the horse losing a considerable amount of ground.

Before being allowed to race again, TOYCOON will be required to perform satisfactorily in a barrier trial.

Shortly after the start, C Y Ho (TOYCOON) adjusted his left foot in the stirrup iron.

TASHIDELEK shifted in at the start and bumped WEALTHY EMPLOYEE which began awkwardly.

WEALTHY EMPLOYEE was then crowded for room between TASHIDELEK and TOP SCORE which shifted out.

LIGHTNING STEED began only fairly and then despite being ridden along in the early stages failed to muster speed.

From the outside barriers, OWNERS' STAR and FUN LEGEND were shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

Near the 500 Metres, TASHIDELEK was awkwardly placed close to the heels of HEAVENLY THOUGHT after commencing to shift to the outside of that horse when GOLDEN SPECTRUM improved quickly around TASHIDELEK.

Near the 450 Metres, LIGHTNING STEED was checked away from the heels of TASHIDELEK when attempting to improve into tight running between that horse and TOYCOON.

BRAVE KING was held up for clear running approaching and passing the 250 Metres and when improving into tight running between TOP SCORE and HEAVENLY THOUGHT bumped the hindquarters of TOP SCORE approaching the 200 Metres.

Passing the 100 Metres, the whip of Apprentice K H Chan (HEAVENLY THOUGHT) was knocked from his grasp by the whip of A Hamelin (BRAVE KING).

After the race, H T Mo reported that, despite riding OWNERS' STAR along throughout the middle stages, the horse was reluctant to improve its position and then did not finish off the race.

A veterinary inspection of OWNERS' STAR immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

GOLDEN SPECTRUM and LIGHTNING STEED were sent for sampling.

5 July 2020 Sha Tin Racemeeting - Race 10 (798) Trainer P F Yiu was fined the sum of $10,000 in that as the person responsible for the work of stable staff allocated to him, PRIME MINISTER underwent shockwave treatment on Monday, 29 June 2020 when that horse held an entry for this race.

This treatment resulted in PRIME MINISTER being ineligible to race due to it having occurred within the applicable clear day restrictions.
