Recap by phillip woo

Victoriam took control 300m out after stalking the speed one off the fence from a wide gate for a first win this season and third from 10 starts. Old pro Great Treasure quickened nicely one from the right after his usual spot out back to grab second in deep stretch at a good price. He's so honest and effective over a range of distances. California Turbo stuck on well for a placing after a wide and without cover run in midfield. He continues to finish in the mix in four of his past five after a Valley win in December. Favourite Take What You Need came up one-paced over the last 100m following a one-out, one-back run from a tricky gate. He's capable but is not reliable. Dragon Has Landed gradually faded after dictating the run from gate one. It was an improved effort at his third start but he might have appreciated the wet going. Unique Treasure made his run behind midfield on the fence after a slow start, then copped a bump 350m out.

Racing Incident Report

Race Two: (546) - HOMESTEAD HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1200Meters

DRAGON HAS LANDED shifted out at the start and hampered UNIQUE TREASURE.

SUPER JUNIOR shifted out at the start and made contact with LITTLE WISE MAN.

After travelling a short distance, GREAT TREASURE was bumped by PURE LEGEND which was awkwardly placed inside the heels of HARMONY SPIRIT.

From a wide barrier, HERCULES was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

Near the 800 Metres, CALIFORNIA TURBO was left racing wide and without cover.

Passing the 600 Metres, UNIQUE TREASURE was awkwardly placed close to the heels of SUPER JUNIOR.

LITTLE WISE MAN, which was following, commenced to prove difficult to settle and was checked out away from the heels of UNIQUE TREASURE passing the 550 Metres.

As UNIQUE TREASURE was improving into tight running between PURE LEGEND and SUPER JUNIOR at the 500 Metres, SUPER JUNIOR got its head on the side and shifted out, resulting in UNIQUE TREASURE being momentarily crowded for room.

Passing the 400 Metres, UNIQUE TREASURE was awkwardly placed inside PURE LEGEND which lay in.

Near the 75 Metres, UNIQUE TREASURE shifted out away from DRAGON HAS LANDED and was consequently awkwardly placed inside the heels of TAKE WHAT YOU NEED.

UNIQUE TREASURE was then eased when crowded for room between TAKE WHAT YOU NEED and DRAGON HAS LANDED (M F Poon) which shifted out.

M F Poon was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.

After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that LITTLE WISE MAN had bled from both nostrils.

As this was the second consecutive occasion that LITTLE WISE MAN was reported to have bled in a race, the Stewards referred the matter to the Department of Veterinary Regulation, Welfare and Biosecurity Policy for review, however, the normal restrictions applicable to a horse in these circumstances will apply.

A veterinary inspection of UNIQUE TREASURE (K Teetan) immediately following the race found that horse to have weal marks over its right flank.

K Teetan was fined $5,000.

A veterinary inspection of SUPER JUNIOR immediately following the race found that horse to be a "roarer??which had previously been reported.

TAKE WHAT YOU NEED, VICTORIAM and GREAT TREASURE were sent for sampling.
