Recap by phillip woo

Punted late Victory Power got up 150m out after a wide and without cover run better than midfield from an awkward gate for a first win at his 21st start. The win was overdue after placing in 10 prior starts. Noble Man closed well along the inside to finish a close second after making his run one-off behind midfield. It was a promising debut effort. Compassion Star rallied well to finish a non-threatening third after making his run worse than midfield on the fence. Gunnar was stopping 100m out after taking over the lead from Look Eras following a pace-stalking role. He doesn't have much upside off his current mark after a last-start win. Master Albert ran on without menacing from near the back. It was another honest effort but he's not a prolific winner. Speedy Missile kept on evenly after a prominent run. He's still learning. Lucky Missile made some ground without threatening after a patient ride at the back of the back. It was a better effort.

Racing Incident Report

Race Five: (279) - TSING LUNG TAU HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1200Meters

NAVAS, Standby Declared Starter, was withdrawn on 25.12.19 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame right hind).

Before being allowed to race again, NAVAS will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

From wide barriers, LUCKY MISSILE and VITALITY FORTUNE were shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

Approaching the first turn at the 1000 Metres, GUNNAR and GRAND HARBOUR raced tight.

At the 850 Metres, SPEEDY MISSILE was momentarily tightened for room inside GRAND HARBOUR which got its head on the side and shifted in away from GUNNAR.

COMPASSION STAR, which was following SPEEDY MISSILE, was steadied in consequence.

Rounding the Home Turn, COMPASSION STAR was awkwardly placed behind GOLDEN EFFORT and GUNNAR when being shifted out across the heels of those runners to obtain clear running.

At the entrance to the Straight, SPEEDY MISSILE was awkwardly placed behind LOOK ERAS which quickly came under pressure.

Approaching the 100 Metres, VITALITY FORTUNE was shifted out away from the heels of the tiring GOLDEN EFFORT.

VICTORY POWER raced wide and without cover throughout the event.

Following the race, C Y Ho reported that LOOK ERAS showed its customary speed to lead the race.

He said however that soon after straightening LOOK ERAS made an audible breathing noise and quickly came under pressure.

He said the horse weakened to the extent that he was reluctant to test it over the concluding stages as it was already out of contention.

A veterinary inspection of LOOK ERAS immediately following the race did not show any significant findings, however, the horse was unable to be scoped due to being fractious.

A veterinary inspection of GOLDEN EFFORT immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

GUNNAR, VICTORY POWER and NOBLE MAN were sent for sampling.
