Recap by phillip woo

Blade Racer never looked back after clearing Corre Rapido for the lead from a wide gate 1,000m for an upset win. He was suited by a return to the dirt with a gear change at his third start in the grade. Never Better ran on well after switching into the open 250m travelling behind midfield on the fence to just get the lip down over Let's Come Back for second. Let's Come Back stuck on well following a one-off run in midfield. He did indicate a bottom wasn't far away in his final outing last term on this surface. Corre Rapido was swamped late for a placing after chasing the leader. It was another honest effort. Run Moochi finished well near the inside after making his run third from the rear. He seems to have turned the corner with two positive runs on the dirt. Winning Circle made some headway without menacing from the rear of the field. Exponents ran on without threatening down the outside after covering a ton of ground near the back.

Racing Incident Report

Race One: (39) - HUNG SHUI KIU HANDICAP - Class 5 - 1200Meters

WINNING CIRCLE began awkwardly, got its head up on a number of occasions and shifted out, causing LET'S COME BACK, which put its head down as the start was effected, to be crowded for room.

WHISTLE UP shifted out at the start and was awkwardly placed inside the hindquarters of NEVER BETTER.

Despite being ridden along in the early stages, RUN MOOCHI failed to muster speed.

After being ridden along in the early stages, EXPONENTS was left racing wide and without cover and leaving the 1000 Metres was steadied to obtain cover.

After obtaining cover behind WINNERS BROTHER from the 800 Metres, EXPONENTS lost ground after the 600 Metres when taken back in the field by WINNERS BROTHER which came under pressure and gave ground.

The performance of WINNERS BROTHER, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable.

Before being allowed to race again, WINNERS BROTHER will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

Making the first turn near the 700 Metres, CORRE RAPIDO got its head up when being steadied away from the heels of BLADE RACER (H T Mo) which shifted in when not properly clear.

H T Mo was severely reprimanded and advised to ensure that he is fully clear when shifting ground in similar circumstances.

Throughout the race, WINNERS BROTHER and SHINING BRIGHT travelled wide and without cover.

When questioned regarding the performance of YEE CHEONG LUCKY, J Moreira stated that he had barrier trialed the horse on the All Weather surface in the lead up to it resuming today and YEE CHEONG LUCKY had trialed well.

He said today YEE CHEONG LUCKY, which was having its first race start on the All Weather surface, was able to obtain a forward position and travelled satisfactorily until the 500 Metres at which point he had to commence riding his mount along to maintain his position.

He said YEE CHEONG LUCKY came under heavy pressure rounding the Home Turn and then, despite being ridden out in the Straight, was disappointing in its failure to finish off the race.

A veterinary inspection of YEE CHEONG LUCKY immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

YEE CHEONG LUCKY, BLADE RACER and NEVER BETTER were sent for sampling.
