Recap by phillip woo

Well-backed late Very Sweet Orange gave them the slip mid-stretch after rounding the final bend a length on top and kept finding to hold on by a half-length for a second win from his past three starts following a move to visors. Confucius Day stuck on well for second settling effectively one-out, one-back in the run. It was a better at his third run in the grade with a return to blinkers but seems to go best over this Valley trip. Late-fancied favourite Shining On left things just too late following a one-off run in midfield. He's pretty honest and is capable up to a mile. Lady First came up flat inside the last 100m after rolling forward to track the leader one off at the 850m from a wide gate. Punted late The Createth came on late down the outside after settling near the back. He doesn't have much room to manoeuvre off his current mark. Strathallan held his ground following a one-off run better than midfield. He's in the right grade but appeared to need the run.

Racing Incident Report

Race Six: (26) - REPULSE BAY HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1200Meters

JOYFUL HEART began only fairly.

FLYING MONKEY and THE CREATETH bumped at the start.

THE CREATETH was then steadied to obtain cover.

From a wide barrier, HAPPY WIN WIN was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

Passing the 1100 Metres, THE CREATETH was awkwardly placed outside the heels of SHINING ON when being steadied to obtain cover behind that horse.

Near the 1050 Metres, THE CREATETH commenced to travel keenly and shifted out away from the heels of BULLISH BROTHER and in doing so bumped FLYING TIGER HERO and took that horse wider.

Then passing the 900 Metres, FLYING TIGER HERO shifted in and bumped the hindquarters of THE CREATETH which became unbalanced.

In the middle stages, FLYING MONKEY got its head on the side and lay out and near the 450 Metres shifted out and bumped STRATHALLAN.

In the Straight, FLYING TIGER HERO lay in under pressure.

When questioned, J Moreira stated that it was intended to either lead on BULLISH BROTHER or sit outside VERY SWEET ORANGE which was also anticipated to be ridden in a forward position.

He said just prior to the start being effected BULLISH BROTHER got its head down and then as the start was effected began awkwardly and stumbled.

He said by the time he was able to balance up BULLISH BROTHER, he believed it was no longer available to him to ride his mount in a forward position as instructed and therefore he elected to obtain a position with cover further back in the field than had been intended.

He said due to being ridden further back in the field than is usual, BULLISH BROTHER finished off the race fairly.

A veterinary inspection of BULLISH BROTHER immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

SHINING ON, VERY SWEET ORANGE and CONFUCIUS DAY were sent for sampling.
